The final night of the under 10 Ballyshannon Shoe Company Indoor Winter League took place last Friday last with nearly 30 under 10s battling it out in the new hall at Coláiste Cholmcille.

The second set of round robins saw the Tigers finish top of the table with 12 points and facing the Pumas in the cup final after they finished on 10 points.

The Shield semi-final saw the Jaguars and the Lions facing off after finishing on six points and two points respectively. The Panthers were into the Shield final automatically having finished third on nine points.

The Shield semi-final was a closely contested affair however, an injury meant their was some confusion over the score so it was decided to use penalties to determine the winner. It was a nervy shoot out with neither side able to find the net until Michael Clancy fired home for the Lions. Then up stepped Kenzie Lee Ayres and he blasted home a great penalty to spark off delirious scenes and send the Lions into the shield final. That gave the Lions great confidence and they took that into the Shield final where they over-turned a fancied Panthers side to win the Shield trophy. Manager Shelly Loughlin nominated Drew Ryan as her winning captain with the other members of the team being Fionn Gallagher, Jack Gallagher, Kenzie Lee Ayres, Lorc Mag Gionnghaile who had to sit out the final with a bad wrist injury after making a brilliant save, Michael Clancy and Tommy Clyne.

The cup between the Tigers and Pumas was an extremely closely contested affair between two sides playing a very high standard of football. The Pumas got a goal half way through, but their lead was under constant threat from a Tigers team who had finished top after the group stages. With time almost up the Pumas grabbed a second goal to win the cup title after the best game played over the two evenings of the under 10 league.

Pumas manager Mary Flora Scott named shot-stopper extraordinaire Jack McCadden as team captain. Also on the winning Pumas team were Aonghus Sweeny, Conor Cleary, Hugh Óg Maguire, Jack McCadden, James Gallagher and Shane McGloin.

Afterwards medal presentations to all the players who took part over the two nights of the under 10 Ballyshannon Shoe Company Indoor Winter League. Club PRO John Hughes praised the players for the great exhibition of football they put on and thanked Sylvester Maguire, Val Murray and Kerry Ryan for reffing, Mary Flora Scott, Shelly Loughlin, Dylan Gallagher, JC McGarrigle and James Bradshaw for managing the teams, and the parents for all their support over the course of the year. He also thanked Ballyshannon Shoe Company for their generous sponsorhip of trophies and medals.
