The minors lost their first round first leg championship game against Kilcar on Monday evening by 2-12 to 1-7 in Father Tierney Park. Aodh Ruadh were minus the considerable talents of Conor Patton with a facial injury and Niall Murray with ankle ligament after their exertions in Mountcharles on Saturday evening. Nevertheless, facing a fancied Kilcar outfit, Aodh Ruadh gave a determined performance. Despite that the visitors were impressive and were five to the good at the turnaround despite having hit a number of wides. They were more clinical in the second half, and finished up double scores winners. There were a number of encouraging performances for Ballyshannon. Jamie McDonald got a couple of great points while James Kelly drifted up to get the goal for the homesters. Ryan Granaghan didn't get much ball at full forward in the first half, but battled well in midfield when he came out the pitch in second half. Ronan McGurrin also won some great ball in midfield. David McGurrin hit a number of good points while Johnny Gethins was also threatening, hitting the post with great effort on goal when the game was in the mixer. Daniel Kelly did very well in goals with one fantastic stop in particular.
