Aodh Ruadh progressed to the Southern Regional final with a hard-fought 2-11 to 1-6 win over Naomh Mhuire in Father Tierney Park. Aodh Ruadh battled through the first half, going in at the break leading by two points, thanks in the main to a Shane McGrath goal and an superbly taken point. Niall Harley had a huge role to play in the win, working like a dog in midfield. Defensively the half back line once again excelled with Calum 'Cookie' O'Halloran and Conor Kennedy in particularly fine form. Colm Doyle and Matthew Maguire were very solid in the full back line. Up front Shane McGrath was a little bit of class, while Philip Patton worked very hard and finished the game with six points to his credit. Oisín Roper was another who put in a good, hard shift at half forward, While Stephen Thompson was in flying form after his introduction, bagging himself a goal and two points. We have pictures of the game up on aodhruadh.org. Aodh Ruadh's opponents in the final will be Dungloe who slayed a fancied Ardara outfit and will present doughty opposition. The final is penciled in for Monday, 16th July, but we await final confirmation of date, time and venue.
