Aodh Ruadh 3-8
Kilcar 3-8
Father Tierney Park
The under 16s played out an exciting league opener against Kilcar on Sunday morning. When the sides met at under 14 and under 15 in Óg Sport, Kilcar. On this ocassion they had to be satisfied with a share of the points against this developing Aodh Ruadh team. The Ballyshannon defence allowed Kilcar few attacking chances opportunites and were particularly effective in the first half. Mark Gallagher in goals witha number of excellent saves and Sean Taylor at centre half back who turned over an amount of ball deserved to share any man of the match awards. Taylor also contributed three points from play.
Goals from The three half forwards Dylan Gallagher, Matteo Rivenna and Shane Dorrian looked like being enough to win the game but Kilcar fought back to lead 3-8 to 3-7 with a minute to go. Aodh Ruadh finished strong and made a determined burst up the field and won a free 25 metres out which Conall Sweeny stuck over for the draw with the last kick of the game. The under 16s next match is against Dungloe at home on Good Friday. Once again the under 16 team and managers wish Pauric Keenaghan well as he begins his recovery from his injury.
