Bord na nÓg Presentation Night 2007
Under 12 County Champions honoured
Aras Aoidh Ruadh played host to the Bord na nÓg Presentation Night last Saturday. The under 12 Southern Board and County Champions were guests of honour and were treated to a DVD of the County Final in Convoy against Termon on 13th July. Needless to say Johnny Gethins’ goal midway through the second half lifted the roof! Many thanks to Termon who kindly gave us a copy of the County Final DVD, which really was an excellent production.
The viewing, accompanied by well-received food from Maggie’s and drinks from C&C, was followed by the presentation of Southern Board and County winners’ medals. The presentations were made by the club’s county stars Brian Roper and Niall McCready. It was great to have Brian and Niall available for the occasion and many people took the opportunity to get their pictures taken with the pair.
Recognition for Bakery Cup Captains
After the presentation of medals there were presentations of certificates to the four Bakery cup captains: Ronan McGurrin, Sylvester Maguire, Martin Larkin and Ruairí Drummond.
Bord na nÓg Sponsors in the Limelight
The next presentation was to recognise and acknowledge sponsorship provided to Aodh Ruadh Bord na nÓg. Jim Kane, Chairman of Bord na nÓg gave a speech emphasizing the crucial role that sponsors played in making things happen in Bord na nÓg and thanked them for their continuing support of underage football in Ballyshannon. Jim then presented framed certificates to James Likely of James Likely Limited, Edmund McIntyre of Centra, Ballyshannon, Charlie O’Donnell of O’Donnell’s Bakery, Joe Drummond of ESB Ballyshannon, Brian Drummond of Ballyshannon Credit Union and Brian Roper for Joe Roper.
Joe Drummond of the ESB made a presentation of a cheque for €600 to Aodh Ruadh Chairman, Terrence McShea, and Jim Kane of Bord na nÓg, recognising the great achievements of the under 12 team in 2007 as they wore their ESB sponsored jerseys with distinction.
Other sponsors who were acknowledged on the night but who unable to attend were Keown Carpets and Flooring, Decorworld, James Cummins, Noel Hoey Wholesale Distribution, Gerry Ferguson, Pearse O’Neill and The Abbey Garage. Many thanks Pat Melaniff, Enda McGurrin, Sylvester Maguire and everyone else who helped out on what was a very enjoyable and memorable night.
