Underage hurlers' trip to All-Ireland semi-final
On Sunday last a group of 53 juvenile hurlers and adults travelled to Croke Park on our annual trip. As has been the case in our previous visits a great day was had by all. The minor game was very competitive throughout and while it looked like the Banner men were going to take the spoils the Tribesmen came back at the death with a goal to force the game to extra time. In the extra 20 minutes Galway got on top and ran out convincing winners. The stage was now set for the senior game and the eagerly awaited clash between Kilkenny and Waterford, the majority of our group were supporting the Deise due to the great weekend we had with their manager the great Davy Fitzgerald. Despite Kilkenny getting off to a great start with an early goal Waterford fought back to be only two points coming behind up to half time when the game turned on Kilkenny's second goal. Try as they might in the second half Waterford couldn't prevent Kilkenny reaching their sixth All Ireland Final in a row. From there it was onto Cavan for our meal and back to Ballyshannon all tired but looking forward to our trip in 2012 already.
