Aodh Ruadh take under 14 B honours
There was silverware on offer in MacCumhaill Park on Saturday, 5th July when the under 14s took on Carndonagh in the 'B' county final. It was a tightly fought match, with Aodh Ruadh taking the honours by 8-7 to 4-5. The scoreline doesn't do justice to Carndonagh who were stung by a couple of early Ballyshannon goals and had to play catch-up for the rest of the match. Blaine Bogle had his hands full in goals and he pulled off a number of excellent saves. Conor Kennedy and Aaron Fannon both gave a strong defensive performances, whilst Donal O'Keefe also played a real captain's role in the back division. Thomas Anderson was very influential in the middle of the park and did much to facilitate good showings by Rory Cullen, Jamie Brennan and Colin Kelly who tortured the Carndonagh backs. Gary Kelly will also be pleased with his display, not to mention his handsome goal-haul. After the match County Hurling Board Chairman, Rory McGonigle, presented the under 14 'B' championship trophy to a delighted Donal O'Keefe and then it was back to Ballyshannon for a spin round the town to show off the prize. Congratulations to Kevin Loughlin, manager, Eddie Lynch, selector, and everyone involved with the team.
