Aodh Ruadh 6-6
Saint Eunan's 2-2
Father Tierney Park
On Thursday last Aodh Ruadh played St Eunan's in the under 14 hurling league semi-final. Both teams gave it their all in very difficult conditions. It was a game of two halves due to the strong wind, Aodh Ruadh won the toss and elected to play with the breeze. They were very slow to settle and missed a lot of chances early on, before they got a quick brace of goals after 15 minutes. The team gradually upped their work-rate and began working for each other. They added a pair of much needed points before half time to leave them leading 4-4 to 0-0 at the turn over. They were facing into a strong breeze and they were determined not to let their lead slip. They played very well into the breeze and good combination play allowed them get another couple of goals, all 20 players put in a tremendous hour's hurling full of passion and commitment. Saint Eunan's, to their credit, never gave up and their work paid off with a number of late scores leaving the full time score Aodh Ruadh 6-6 St Eunan's 2-2. It was a great game and the common sense referring of John Doyle from Sligo added greatly to the spectacle. This win means that Aodh Ruadh have qualified for their third under 14A league final in a row. Again they face their great rivals, Ulster Féile division three champions, Buncrana.
