Aodh Ruadh 5-18
Letterkenny Gaels 0-1
Father Tierney Park
Aodh Ruadh's senior hurlers maintained their good run in the junior league with a comfortable win over Letterkenny Gaels in Father Tierney Park on Friday evening. The visitors put up some tough resistance early on, but Cian Duffy and Pauric Keenaghan pointed in quick succession seven minutes in to give the hosts an edge in the contest.
And when Sean Maguire hit the net with ten minutes on the clock it really was advantage Ernesiders.
Ballyshannon pushed on and another Keenaghan point was followed by goals from Brendan Gillespie and Adam Rami. Aodh Ruadh raised further white flags courtesy of Keenaghan, Gillespie, Sean Maguire (3) and Stephen Connolly to take a 3-10 to no score half time lead.
The Gaels came out with a real purpose in the second half and registered the first score of a more evenly contested 30 minutes through their corner forward. However, Aodh Ruadh continued to dominate and Ryan Ayres landed a 1-1 followed by a Pauric Keenaghan free before Stephen Anderson hit the net for hosts fifth major of the day.
Letterkenny Gaels managed to slow the flow of scores in the final quarter, but were unable to claw back any of the deficit and points from Adam Rami (2), Stephen Connolly, Brendan Gillespie, Ryan O'Brien and Ryan Ayres gave the homesters a comfortable victory at the long whistle.
Aodh Ruadh are now on four wins from five outings, while Letterkenny Gaels are still to get off the mark.
