Aodh Ruadh Camogie Club, Ballyshannon won their first Intermediate Camogie Championship title since 1991 in emphatic style on Saturday last, defeating Casflefin side, Saint Bridget's.
Before a good crowd Aodh Ruadh got off to a great start in a keenly contested first half when Lorraine McCabe pointed from play. On eight minutes a free for a foul on Michelle Bowring saw McCabe lob the ball forward where Teresa Boyle won possession before striking to the net.
McCabe and Bowring at midfield were giving Aodh Ruadh an excellent central base from which to build scores. McCabe started a move which Diana Kerrigan finished with applomb, doubling on the McCabe pass to ripple the Bridget's net - undoubtedly the score of the game.
Bowring won the puc out and returned it to the top corner of the net with Bridget's replying when Mary Louse McGroary chipped over two points to leave it at 3-1 to 0-2 at half-time.
11-year-old substitute Chantel Mahon proved a handful, winning a free which was duly pointed by McCabe. In the final quarter AodhRuadh pressed home on earlier domination, Michelle Bowring adding 2-1 and Lorraine McCabe 1-2. Bowring was player of the match with Lorraine McCabe, Derbhla Fox and Diana Kerringan all outstanding while Marianne Lynch, Mary Louise McGroary and Joanne Holmes impressed for Saint Bridget's.
