Aodh Ruadh ladies do the double
Ulster Ladies Intermediate Football Club Championship
17 October 2010
Aodh Ruadh 5-11
Naomh Conaill 2-6
The Ladies ended the 2010 season on a high note on Saturday evening when they captured the Intermediate League with a convincing win over Naomh Conaill in Glenties. They finished with a flourish with a 5-11 to 2-6 win.
This was a victory forged in midfield where Sarah Patton and Tanya O'Shea ruled the roost. Patton in particular was outstanding and also got on the score sheet with a goal and a few points, while O'Shea also got forward for a superb individual point. The forwards were in great form with the lethal Elaine Dorrian rifling in two goals to go with her points tally. Donna Martin and Dearbhaile McNeill both raised green flags. While Anna Rafferty, Emma McPhelim were also on target for the Ernesiders. The half back line finished their year with another five star performance. Aoife Buggy, Tara Khan and Grainne McCosker made it very difficult for the Glenties girls to get any traction in the game at all.
This victory sees the girls promoted to both senior League and championship for the 2011 season. It's been a brilliant year for the team. They have secured their long cherished goal of intermediate success and now the senior ranks beckon. Well-deserved congratulations to the team and their mentors on a great season's work.
