Replay victory take Aodh Ruadh into semis

Ladies under 13 A championship quarter-final
23 October 2016
Aodh Ruadh 4-11
Termon 3-2
Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh

Aodh Ruadh under 13 girls booked their place in the county semi-final with a power-packed display against Termon in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh on Sunday afternoon. The girls dictated from the off with a Katie O'Brien point and a brace of Caitlin McGarrigle frees helping them settle into the game. The first goal came from some great direct running by Danielle McGarrigle who struck home confidently. She added a point shortly after before Emer O'Brien drilled home a second goal with a well-placed shot. Another Katie O'Brien point concluded an exceptional half of football from the hosts where the incredible work-rate of the midfield and defence restricted Termon to a single point. Things started better for the visitors in the second half with an early goal, but Aodh Ruadh got the perfect response when Aoibheann McGarrigle rattled home at the other end. After that the scoring rate dropped off significantly and Termon managed to work their way back into contention with a couple of goals. They were also helped by a superb penalty save from a well-struck shot by their excellent keeper. However Aodh Ruadh finished strong and a point from Sara Jane Keon followed by score of the game, an rasper of a goal from Aoibheann McGarrigle, saw the Shamettes take the victory. It was a near perfect display of football from Aodh Ruadh against a strong Termon outfit, everywhere you looked there were heroes in white and green, the starting team was Áine Hill; Orla Keon, Ciara Caldwell, Grainne Maguire; Lucy McGlynn, Ella Clancy, Ailish Gallagher; Caitlin McGarrigle, Tia McFarland; Katie McMullin, Danielle Gallagher, Sarah Jane Keon; Aoibheann McGarrigle, Katie O'Brien, Emer O'Brien.
