Ballyshannon Folk Festival 2010

Kila Live on the street where the first people landed in Ireland!!

The 33rd Ballyshannon Folk and Traditional Music Festival will kick off on Friday July 30th with a treasure of folk and traditional music stars from Ireland and beyond including The Dave Munnelly Band, Fidil , Eilidh Patterson , Lúnasa, Solas and Andy Irvine!

This year's event will go right back to its roots celebrating the heady early days of the festival when free live street entertainment was at the core of the weekend - with a selection of live acts to choose from every day on the streets culminating in a free open air gig by the hugely popular KILA at 4 pm at "The Gables" in Ballyshannon on Sunday August 1st.

Eleanor McEvoy will be giving a singer-songwriter workshop on Sunday at 1.30pm and other workshops over the weekend will include Sean Nós and clog dancing! Live impromptu pub sessions and story telling will take place in over 12 venues in this small north western coastal town over the weekend, while a new talent showcase in this years programme has been proving a big draw to the younger audience. The winner of the showcase will win a spot alongside Andy Irvine in the final concert of the weekend at The Abbey Centre.
