Centenary Congratulations

Chapel Street, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, 29 October 2009.

Dear John [Magee]

Please convey my sincere thanks to the 'Executive' of the Aodh Ruadh C.L.G., for the complimentary ticket for teh Centenary Celebration Night on Sunday 25th October. It was a memorable evening, beginning with Mass in St Patrick's at 6.30pm, followed by the Exhibition and Presentation in the Abbey Centre and culminating with a Banquet in Dorrian's Hotel.

The Exhibition and Presentation were very professionally presented. Congratulations to Sean Perry and all those associated with such. It was very obvious that much work went into the organizing of teh whole evening. Congratulations to one and all. Best wishes to the Aodh Ruadh Club for the future. Best wishes. Beannacht Dé Lib.

Sincerely,
Herbie Bromley

Sheáin, a chara,

Bheinn an-Bhuíoch díot ach mo bhuíochas a chur in iúl do oifigigh agus baill Aoidh Ruaidh CLG as an chuireadh a tugadh dom-sa teacht go dti Comóradh and Chéid sa chub le déanai.

Just a word of thanks John for the very kind invitation extended to me on the occasion of the one hundred year's anniversary of the founding of your club. It was a most enjoyable occasion and brought me back many years and to the time when the Bakery Cup was our All-Ireland.

I also met many members of the great De La Salle College teams that I had the good fortune to coach, and but for the fact that I had an appointment in Dublin very early on Monday morning no doubt the reminiscences would have gone on much longer. On the hurling front also I think we won all the Donegal competitions of that era under the guidance of the late Brother Canice Kearney. this was one of the reasons no doubt that I captained a Donegal Minor Hurling team. The occasion brought back also memories of many players who are no longer with us in both codes. Go ndéana Dia trócaire orthu uilig.

The occasion was very well organised and orchestrated in a manner befitting such an occasion. It was also appropriate that the current Uachtarán Comhairle Uladh CLG should be one of your members in this historic year. The lasting impression is of the massive contribution which your club and Cummann Lúthchleas Gael in general has made to the fabric of Irish life.

Ta céad bliain slánaithe agaibh. Bach rath oraibh sha tochaí.

Le gach geannacht agus dea-ghuí,

Tomás Ó Cuilinn
