Aodh Ruadh 2-17
Kilcar 0-06
Sean Perry reports from Father Tierney Park.

Aodh Ruadh leapfrogged Kilcar in Division 1A with this convincing win in Fr. Tierney Park on Bank Holiday Monday. The home side were eager to make amends for a shock championship defeat at the hands of Malin in their last outing three weeks previous and started with serious intent putting 1-3 on the board in the opening quarter.

Michael Lawless drilled home the well-worked goal which had the Gaeltacht club chasing the contest and the loss of Noel Hegarty to injury late in the first half along with a great save from stand-in Ballyshannon goalkeeper, Turlough McIntyre, had Kilcar in serious trouble at 1-7 to 0-2 at the interval.

The last time the sides met in Towney in May, Kilcar came through in a keenly fought contest, they had no answer to their opponents on this occasion however, and with the exception of Mark McShane, most players seemed to have thrown in the towel long before the final whistle.

Seamus Kane picked off four wonderful second half points from play to finish with a personal tally of 0-6, Michael Lawless turned well to scuttle home a second goal and add to Kilcar's woes. With the senior championship on hold for most clubs for a number of weeks as a result of the progress of the Donegal minors, Aodh Ruadh will be content to continue with a diet of similar league results, however they travel to Magheragallen in Gweedore next Sunday, Declan Bonner's side having also comfortably disposed of Kilcar last weekend.
