Lady luck shuns reserves
Intermediate Reserve Football Championship
3 September 2011
Saint Naul's 2-x
Aodh Ruadh x-x
The reserves lost picked a bad time to sink to their first competitive loss of the season in this first round first leg clash with Saint Naul's. Although the Ernesiders were down a number of key personnel they started well and midway through the first half were leading by 0-5 with 0-3 Diarmaid McInerney and Garrett Blake hitting a couple of quality scores. Then Saint Naul's hit a purple patch during which they tagged on seven unanswered points to go in at the break leading by 0-10 to 0-5. Aodh Ruadh came out fighting in the second half and got the game back to 0-10 to 0-9. The key phase of play came when an Anthony Coughlan goal chance was denied only for Saint Naul's to counter rapidly and put the ball in the Ballyshannon net. After that the game quickly went away from the visitors and Mountcharles ran out comfortable winners.
