Goal blitz stuns Glen

Division 3 Football League
20 April 2012
Naomh Columba 0-10
Aodh Ruadh 4-4
Pairc na nGaeil Glencolmcille

An amazing four-goal blitz in the second-half from Aodh Ruadh stunned Naomh Columba on Friday night as an inspired Micheal 'Sticky' Ward and company took the points back to Ballyshannon. Oisin McGinley, Noel McGinley and Ryan McNern helped Glen lead 0-3 to 0-1 just ten minutes in with that lead stretched thanks to scores from Noel McGinley, Kevin 'Beag' Cunningham and Oisin McGinley. Diarmuid McInerney and Michael Maguire swapped scores late in the half with Glen 0-7 to 0-2 up at half-time. The second-half got off to an explosive start for the visitors as a David Dolan free somehow eluded the Glen defence and made its way to the net. Two minutes later Sticky Ward smashed home the second from close in and the visitors were now one in front. A brace of points from Noel McGinley and Oisin McGinley put the hosts back in front only for Sticky Ward to net goal number three from the penalty spot. Oisin McGinley got one back but a killer fourth goal from Diarmuid McInerney settled the tie.
