Aodh Ruadh 2-16
Carndonagh 0-3
Father Tierney Park
Aodh Ruadh made hay with the backing of a powerful wind to overwhelm Carndonagh challenge in the first 30 minutes of this match, and left them chasing their shadows in the second. Aodh Ruadh hit 1-12 in the first period which was a sufficient cushion to see the visitors comfortably through second half playing into the breeze. Turlough McIntyre was very good in the middle of the park for the Ernesiders fetching an ocean of ball. The main beneficiary was brother Fiachra McIntyre who bagged 2-2 in a real fox in the box exhibition. With only the bare 15 travelling co-manager Val Murray pulled on the boots and got five points, form is temporary, and all that. Dermot Slevin and Ryan Granaghan were also on song getting 0-4 and 0-3 respectively. The defence also got in on the act with Ronan Matthews hitting a point and Danno Kelly had a very profitable trip up the park for a point at the expense, not just of his marker, but of Niall Murray, allegedly. Also in defence David McLoone had a particularly good game at left back while Ryan Patton also had a fine 60 minutes.
