Back to winning ways for reserves
Division 3 Football League
18 August 2012
Aodh Ruadh 3-15
Buncrana 2-8
Father Tierney Park
While Kilkenny were impressive in Croke Park, probably the performance of the weekend was in Ballyshannon where Anthony Coughlan tore apart the Buncrana reserves with a 3-3 tally that will surely have given Jim McGuinness some food for thought. Aodh Ruadh ran out 3-15 to 2-8 winners over the northern visitors in what was a good win for the homesters. Ahead by four points at half time, Ballyshannon forged on in the second half to secure the two points. Once again the half back line were very impressive with Stephen McGrath and David Finnerty on form with Kieran Keown getting forward a lot and firing over the score of the game, a monster point from over 50 yards out. Damien Cleary and Aidan Murray had a good solid outing in the centre of the field and had the better of exchanges. Johnny Gethins and Ryan Granaghan were introduced after half time and their scoring contribution gave Aodh Ruadh a healthy cushion. Michael McNeely hit three points in an excellent performance. Anthony Coughlan was subbed before the end so he could enjoy the adulation from the adoring fans for his virtuoso performance and his replacement, Val Murray, wasn't long showing them that he still knew where the posts where.
