Scintillating second half seals it for Ernesiders
Senior Football Division 3
21 June 2014
Carndonagh 0-10
Aodh Ruadh 2-22
Aodh Ruadh maintained their position at the head of the division three table with a 2-22 to 0-10 victory over a depleted Carndonagh side in Inishowen. Ballyshannon were slow to start and Carn were picking off some lovely long range points, but the visitors were able to forge their way to a 0-9 to 0-5 half time lead. Aodh Ruadh's first goal was a fine individual effort, Mickey Dolan attacking down the left channel and unleashing a rasper past the Carndonagh net minder. The second goal came when Ballyshannon turned over a Carn attack and the ball was worked to Diarmaid McInerney in space. McInerney was clinical with his finish to the back of the net. In general it was good team performance from the Ernesiders, especially in the second period when fatigue began to tell on the homesters. Conor Patton once again clocked up the kilometers in another indefatigable performance, while Eamonn McGrath led what was an impressive half back display. Also prominent was James O'Donnell who dominated around the centre of the field.
