Reserves consolidate top spot with away win
Senior Reserve Football Division 3
5 July 2014
Naomh Colmcille 1-9
Aodh Ruadh 1-14
Aodh Ruadh had to work all the way to take the points against a determined Naomh Colmcille reserve. As in the senior game, it was a penalty which helped the visitors across the line, Dermot Slevin doing the honours and finishing with 1-4 to his credit. He was joint top scorer with Michael 'Sticky' Ward, who slotted seven points in another productive scoring outing. There were also scores for Calum 'Cookie' O'Halloran, Niall Thomas and a beauty from Ryan Granaghan. Like the senior game it was a real team effort. Chris 'Spanny' Goan never stopped all day, turning over ball and giving Ballyshannon an attacking platform. Defensively Paul Kane between the stick and Chris McCabe and Eugene Drummond were very solid for the Ernesiders. The game was also notable for seeing one of the club's bright prospects for the future making his first senior appearance from the bench. Minor star Philip Patton was sprung from the bench and his introduction helped Aodh Ruadh see the game out with some comfort.
