Senior Reserve Division 3

Naomh Colmcille 0-12
Aodh Ruadh 2-6
David McLoone reports from Páirc Colmcille
The reserves travelled to Newtowncunningham on Saturday evening in a late fixture change due to Donegal's involvement in the National League semi-final.
The hosts played with the strong breeze for the first half and quickly took advantage putting the first three points on the board. The visitors eventually settled and started working the ball well up the field, and were soon rewarded when James Kelly palmed the ball into the net following good work by Anthony Coughlin and Nicky Sheerin. Mickey McNeely added a point to put Aodh Ruadh ahead. Newtown continued to add the points, finishing with nine by half time. Anthony Coughlin kept the Erne men in touch at half time with a well finished goal as he slipped the ball low past the keeper.
The half-time score read 0-9 to 2-1, leaving Aodh Ruadh in a strong position heading into second half with the wind at their backs. However, the Newtown men were effective in frustrating their visitors who only managed to tag on three points to the hosts one, leaving the score level at 0-10 to 2-4 with about 10 minutes to play, the points coming from Coughlin and two from Sheerin.
Aodh Ruadh eventually managed to nudge ahead and took a two point advantage into the closing minutes, thanks to a Dermot Slevin score and another from Coughlin. The Erne men were unable however to see it out, as two turnovers of possession let Naomh Colmcille in to level the match, the equalising point being a short range free with the last kick of the match to deprive the visitors of the full spoils.
