Secretary's Address to Club AGM - 3 December 2017

In what has been my 2nd year in this role, it has been another fulfilled, eventful year. The year starts straight after the AGM with the Kickabout for Coleman fundraiser and the Bord na nOg interactive quiz.

It was also decided that 2017 would see the return of the much missed Dinner Dance. The dance was held in Dorrian's Hotel on Jan 21st and thankfully turned out to be a great success, so much so, we are having another one in 2018!!

2017 seen another huge effort from all involved in maintaining and improving both Fr. Tierney Park and Pairc Aoidh Ruaidh. Many thanks to Catherine for her endless effort in keeping finances in check and also to the Park Committee which has seen this year being a big year for refurbishment and development.

This was, as usual, an action packed year for fundraisers with all sub committees running various events, including quizzes, Euro Shot Challenge, Duck Race, Last Man Standing, Comedy Night, Clothes Drive and even a Boston Tea Party. Many thanks to all involved with running these events. All fundraising is not only appreciated but vital to the success of the running of our club.

Whilst getting ready for this AGM it was great to read so many positive reports and it shows the development of our club at all age levels and in all codes. This was evident firstly by our senior footballers being promoted to Division 1. Congratulations to the team and management on their success.

Congratulations to all the successful underage teams and management, it is a testament to all the hard work and effort being out in by the managers, assistants and players themselves. Many thanks to all the managers and assistants involved, who have dedicated a massive amount of time to these teams. I would also like to thank the players who put in huge commitment and effort at training and games. They go out every week and represent Aodh Ruadh and always do so in a respectful manner.

Thank you to all the sponsors. Aodh Ruadh greatly appreciated your generosity and support throughout the year.

Thank you to Jean Sheerin who makes sandwiches for home games and thank you to Peter Conlon for his help with pitch bookings. Thank you to all the park employees for maintaining pitches, dressing rooms and the club house.

I would like to thank Chris Kelly for all his effort in selling club gear. Any profits made from this club gear go towards maintenance of toilets, dressing rooms etc.

Lastly I would like to thank everyone who makes this job a delight to do. I enjoy working with you all and hope to continue to do so next season.

Many thanks to Gerard and Catherine for all their help and support and I would like to wish all involved in the club the very best wishes for 2018!!

Mise le meas,
