Secretary's Address to Club AGM - 24 November 2024

2024 was a busy year across all codes, both on and off the field.

I want to thank all our managers, coaches, mentors and all who help out with teams. Without the hard work, dedication and commitment from all our coaches and mentors, across all codes, we would not be able to facilitate the high number of players coming to our club on a daily. The willingness of our management teams to develop themselves allows them to be the best possible coach which helps to develop our players in football and hurling. In my opinion, the development of our underage players is paramount in our club and having adult senior players (male and female) helping with teams will hopefully encourage players to progress on further and eventually get to play for our senior teams.

Thank you to all of the sponsors who generously gave sponsorship over the course of the year. It is very much appreciated by the entire club, players and their management teams.

The lotto continues to be a much-needed weekly source of income and thank you to those who cover slots at Centra every Saturday. I would also encourage each subcommittee to look closer at how to best cover these lotto slots in 2025. I want to thank the lotto committee of Catherine Mc Kee, Gerard Ferguson and John Magee who oversee the draw every Sunday evening. Please support the lotto where possible.

A big thank you has to go to Tom and the Park Committee. Their tireless work and dedication to constantly improving and updating our facilities does not go unnoticed. Thank you to the park workers for the hours they put in to maintaining our grounds. The Park Committee continue to develop our grounds. We are lucky enough to have teams at all levels in all codes, however this leads to a lot of difficulties in allocating training slots/pitch allocation. I encourage each subcommittee to work together with Tom in 2025 in order to improve this.

Thank you to Peter and Johnny for their continued work in getting grounds and pitches match ready. Thanks to all who help out on match days from operating the gate, covering the shop and helping out with the refreshments, it doesn't go unnoticed.

A big thank you has to go to John Hughes for the amount of work he continues to do on a weekly basis. We are more active on social media than ever before and thank you to those who help out with our social media platforms. Thanks to Brian Drummond who is always on hand at games for those all-important team shots.

Thank you to all who represented Aodh Ruadh at Scor this year. Thank you to Eamonn Martin Maguire for all his work with Scor.

Thank you to all of our sub committees and their tireless work at underage and adult level. Congratulations must go to the Bord na nOg u15 division 2 feile champions, the ladies Junior B Shield Champions, underage ladies u15 division 2 feile champions, the u21 hurling championship shield winners and the juvenile hurlers aall county u12 B league champions.

I would like to highlight the importance of returning the key to the lockbox in PAR and Fr Tierney Park. The keys are needed to open gates for ambulance personnel and also to access the AED machine in PAR. I encourage anyone who has a set of keys to return them asap.

Lastly, I want to thank Lisa and Patricia for their support and guidance over the year. A big thank you to Lisa for being very patient and understanding as I tried to adapt and learn my new role as secretary. I said it during the year to you when things were tough and I'll say it again here now- you are one of the biggest assets that our club has and I can't wait to see what you do at county level.

Le meas,
Louise Larkin
