~ SHAM TV ~
Improved upload capacity, courtesy of Brian Drummond, has seen five new videos added to the Sham TV offering. The first is Cathal Maguire's full video of the intermediate reserve championship final where Aodh Ruadh defeated Buncrana on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-3 to claim their second intermediate reserve championship title in a row. Second was the video of the 1986 county final where Aodh Ruadh, captained by Tommy McDermott, reclaimed the Dr Maguire cup after a 35 year absence with a 1-8 to 0-5 victory over Red Hugh's. The next three were all additions to the Billy Finn archive, on the history section of aodhruadh.org. The first of those saw Ballyshannon welcome Sam to the Hills in 1992, the second features the recollections of Aodh Ruadh hurling cognoscenti at a gathering in Owen Roe's in November 1991, the third video looks back at the 50th anniversary celebrations for the Bakery cup in 2007. In the next wee while we also hope to have video of a camogie reunion in 1991, an interview with Red Jack Gallagher, Bob Gallagher and Jim Sheerin and the match video for the 1987 county semi-final up on Sham TV. If anyone has Aodh Ruadh footage out there they'd like to see on Sham TV, let us know at info@aodhruadh.org and we'll take it from there.

~ OFF THE PITCH ~
As the first in a series of 12 club profiles Ocean FM are featuring Aodh Ruadh in an extended programme on Sunday, 13th January. Ocean's Daragh Cox spoke to our recently appointed club chairman, Diarmaid Keon as well as Niall McCready, John Rooney, Shane Toolan, Tara Khan and Brian Drummond for the piece. There are a few pictures from the interviews up.

~ MOUTHGUARDS NOW MANDATORY ~
Following the GAA's Annual Congress in April 2012 a rule came into force making it mandatory to use a mouth guard in all Gaelic football matches and training sessions from 1st January 2013 for all age grades up to and including minor. Players will not be allowed to field without mouth guards so it is essential that all ensure they make themselves compliant with this rule at their earliest convenience. With Christmas coming up and this now a compulsory piece of kit for the footballers in your family, it might make a timely stocking filler. For those who wish to avail of the service, Eugene Loughlin (071-9851394) will provide personally fitted mouth guards at reduced rates for Aodh Ruadh club members. We have a full information sheet detailing the GAA's mouth guard policy.

We have some pictures from Enniskillen and Donegal's first competitive game since the All-Ireland final up. Well done to Peter Boyle on his performance between the posts against Monaghan on Sunday past. His kicking was superb, as always, while the goals were a product of very experimental and untested Donegal defensive line-out as much as anything else.

~ REGISTRATION ~
Club membership for 2013 is now due and all club members are asked to submit their registration form and fee at their earliest convenience. Our first open registration night takes place this Friday, 1st February, in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh between 7pm and 8.30pm. In order to be entitled to the rights of a full member, a person must have their fees paid to the club on a date before March 31st and be registered by the club on the online system in order to have a vote in the upcoming membership year. Remember.

  1. Only fully registered players on the GAA online registration system are allowed to take the field for the club. If your name is not in this system you are ineligible. That has repercussions in terms of insurance cover for injuries.
  2. Registration is an important component in meeting the running costs of the club.

  4. Club membership will be displayed in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh.
Membership rates are as follows: Adult Player (Includes insurance cover for the year), €60; Adult non-playing, €40; Underage (Born 1995-2002 inclusive) €25; Underage (Born 2003-2013 inclusive) €15. Sub-committees will also be organising registration sessions in the coming weeks.

~ MEETING ~
The monthly club meeting takes place this Thursday 31st January in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh at 8.30pm. Perhaps this a good time to remind committee members of the by-law passed at the last AGM. "That a member of a club committee who misses a third consecutive meeting without a reasonable excuse be removed from the committee except where they have notified the club secretary of the reason for the third such absence and it is considered a reasonable excuse." Needless to say, all committee members are asked to attend.

~ FIGHT NIGHT ~
Aodh Ruadh Park / Development Committee have announced details of their Fight Night with Killybegs club. The Fight Night will take place in the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran on Friday 8th March. On the night Aodh Ruadh footballers and hurlers - male and female - will take on opponents from Killybegs in what should be a night of explosive entertainment. Tickets go on sale this week and are available from any committee member. As a full house is expected fight fans are advised to purchase early to avoid disappointment. A limited number of fight sponsorship deals remain available. If you are interested in one of these packages or having your business advertised on the night contact Conal Gallagher on 0862112812 or any committee member.
