Many thanks to all the stewards and volunteers who helped ensure a smooth hosting of the Ulster Club IFC quarter-final between Bundoran and Clann Éireann on Sunday. One elderly patron misplaced his hat in the car of a Clann Éireann family he was helping with direction. They believe he was a local man and have made contact with the club and wish to reunite him with his prodigal headgear. If you think you might know the person in question, please contact us at info@aodhruadh.org. We have pictures from the Ulster championship game in the image gallery on aodhruadh.org.Our last league games of the season take place away this Sunday against Letterkenny Gaels. The reserves throw-in at 1.30pm and are followed by the seniors at 3pm. Unfortunately the games are of only academic interest with Burt's win over Naomh Colmcille last weekend consigning us to a sixth successive year of division three football.
The under 21 semi-final against Saint Eunan's is currently pencilled in for Sunday, 15th November.
The under 10 Ballyshannon Shoe Company indoor league last Friday night proved an incident packed evening of football with some great skill on show. In the end it was the underdogs who took both titles on offer with the Pumas taking the cup title and the Lions winning the Shield. Check out aodhruadh.org for a full report from the evening and pictures.
This Friday it is the turn of the under 12s to compete for their Ballyshannon Shoe Company indoor winter league titles with the action getting underway shortly after 6pm and wrapping up by 8pm. These leagues are about pure football, having fun and showing off our skills. The first few games will be used to determine if we need to reallocate players to even the teams out. When that is sorted out we will be playing the first set of round robin games for league points, with the league being played to a conclusion on Friday 13th November. Medals as well as Cup, Shield and Plate trophies will be presented afterwards. The initial teams are as follows, don't worry if your name isn't down here, just let me know ahead of time or turn up on the night and we will assign you to a team.
Hawks: Callum Doherty-Craig, Cian Hunter, Conor Foy, Daniel Breen-Brosnan, Grainne Maguire, Kyle Murray and Mitchell McLaughlin.
Raptors: Aoibheann McGarrigle, Corey Heatley-Ryan, JJ Doran, Kyle McCaffrey, Matt Gillespie and Ryan Keenaghan.
Kestrels: Aaron Neilan, Art Mag Fhionnghaile, David Roper, Diarmaid Flood-Dolan, Jack Melly and Shane Duffy.
Eagles: Cian Rooney, Daire Warren, Jake Foley, Adam Hoey, Pauric Daly and Ronan McKenna.
Harriers: Cillian Meehan, Colm McGloin, Daire Gallagher, Darragh Flood-Dolan, Eoin Somerville, Séimí Campbell.

Our season drew to a close on Sunday with a 2-6 to 0-5 defeat away to Letterkenny Gaels. Once again promotion eluded us and it is third tier football for a sixth season. Thanks to Packie McGrath, his back room team and everyone who lined out for Aodh Ruadh over the course of the season for their efforts this year. We have some pictures from the game up on aodhruadh.org.The under 21 semi-final against Saint Eunan's is currently pencilled in for Sunday, 15th November.
The first night of the under 12 Ballyshannon Shoe Company indoor winter league saw some excellent football and keenly contested games, with Sylvester in charge of proceedings on the pitch. The Kestrels won all their games on the night, but the rest of the league is very evenly matched with three points, a win in other words, separating second and sixth in the table. With a few celebrity appearances expected from under 12s who were unable to make it last Friday it's still very much all to play for this Friday on the final night of the league. We are playing from 6pm to 8pm with the second set of round robins. Final league placing will decide if teams will play-off for the cup, shield or plate titles. Where teams are level on points score difference will decide, or if that is equal, penalties. The round robins are followed the three final games. Medals and trophies presented afterwards with team managers to select their captains.

The under 16s travelled out to the Breesy Centre where they enjoyed a bit of groundball before sitting down to a great feed sponsored by Kernan's Spar. It was a great way to wrap up the year and thanks to David O'Donnell and all at Spar for their kind sponsorship. On Monday evening the under 12s travelled to Bundoran Cineplex to watch Spectre, an evening the team enjoyed immensely. Huge thanks to Eclipse Cinemas Bundoran for their kind sponsorship of this prize and looking after the lads so well.

The under 21 semi-final against Saint Eunan's fell afoul of the weather on Sunday, we await a refixed date. The final night of the under 12 Ballyshannon Shoe Company Indoor Winter League took place last Friday last with nearly 30 under 12s battling it out in the new hall at Coláiste Cholmcille. The second set of round robins saw the Eagles and Hawks facing off in the Plate Final, the Falcons and Raptors paired in the Shield final, with the Harriers and Kestrels meeting in the Cup final. The Kestrels were undefeated over the two nights of the round robins up until the final game where the Harriers needed a win to put themselves in contention for the Cup final. The Harriers duly won 3-0 and earned three points which saw them finish level with the Raptors. It was the Harriers better score difference put them into the Cup decider. The Plate final was an closely matched affair, with the sides locked at a goal apiece for much of the game, but a late two goal burst from the Eagles gave them the victory. Cian Rooney was nominated as Eagles captain with Daire Warren, Jake Foley, Adam Hoey and Pauric Daly also contributing handsomely to the win. The Shield final between the Falcons and Raptors was perhaps the best game of the evening with fortunes tipping back and forth between two evenly matched sides. In the end it was the Raptors who emerged victorious by the odd goal in five. Aoibheann McGarrigle was nominated as captain of a Raptors team which also featured JJ Doran, Kyle McCaffrey, Matt Gillespie and Ryan Keenaghan. By way of clarification for those who asked incessant questions on the matter, check out http://www.thefreedictionary.com/raptor. Never let it be said that the GAA isn't an enlightening force. The final game of the night and the six weeks of highly enjoyable football was played between the Harriers and a well-balanced Kestrels side. The Kestrels took a two goal lead, but Eugene Doherty is nothing if not a motivator and his men never let up and they grabbed a well-deserved goal to leave matters in the balance until close to the end when the Kestrels swept in a third insurance score for a Cup victory which was merited over the two nights. Aaron Neilan was named Kestrels captain and collected his cup trophy from tournament sponsor Gus Culkin of Ballyshannon Shoe Company. The Kestrels impressive team also included Art Mag Fhionnghaile, Diarmaid Flood-Dolan and Shane Duffy. Afterwards medal presentations were made to all the players who took part over the two nights of the under 12 Ballyshannon Shoe Company Indoor Winter League. Club PRO John Hughes praised the players for the great exhibition of football they put on and thanked Sylvester Maguire, Val Murray and Kerry Ryan for reffing over the course of the six weeks. There were thanks for Brian Roper, Mary Flora Scott, Shelly Loughlin, Dylan Gallagher, JC McGarrigle, Eugene Doherty, Nessa Warren, Síofra Hughes, Alicia Clyne, Bridín Maguire and Leah Travers for managing the teams over the two nights of the under 12 league. There was a special word of thanks for Gus Culkin and Ballyshannon Shoe Company for their generous sponsorship which had allowed the club to award each of the 80 plus players who took part over the six weeks medals and trophies for team captains. We have pictures from the final night up on aodhruadh.org.

Aodh Ruadh's under 21 hurlers fell at the quarter-final stages of the championship against Saint Eunan's in O'Donnell park last Sunday. Kevin Kealy scored 2-6 for the Letterkenny men as Aodh Ruadh went down on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-7. A goal for the hosts after five minutes gave them an early edge and a second eight minutes later left the Ernesiders facing an uphill struggle. Ballyshannon responded with points from Patrick Faherty, Daragh Cleary, Oisin Rooney and Matt Ahern but it was the homesters who were leading by 2-4 to 0-4 at the break. Aodh Ruadh rallied early in the new half with points from Oisin Rooney and Matt Ahern and Stephen Connolly was unlucky not to find the net. However after that Eunan's outscored the visitors 1-6 to 0-1 to book their place in the last four. The Aodh Ruadh team was: Brendan Gillespie; Tommy Gillespie, Eugene Drummond, Donal Sweeny; Thomas Anderson, Oisin Rooney (0-2, 1f), Ciaran Rami; Matthew Ahern (0-1f), Eddie Lynch (0-2, 1f); Rory Cullen, Conor McNeilly, Stephen Connolly; Patrick Faherty (0-1), Ciaran Duffy, Daragh Cleary (0-1).
