RIP Sean Boyle
Aodh Ruadh are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sean Boyle. Sean was a club legend, on and off the pitch. He was a promising prospect from an early age and played on the legendary Saint Joseph's team in the 1970s, winning county and provincial honours. As Aodh Ruadh sallied out on its own in championship football in the 80s, he was key in forming the identity of the senior team, and a star of the 1986 and 1987 county championship winning sides. He then went on to manage the club to a memorable county title again in 1994. Sean was only 64 years of age, and it is a tragedy that he was taken at such a young age, but he packed more into his life than many of us could dream of. Our thoughts are with Sean's family and wide circle of friends at this terribly sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.RIP Tommy McGowan
Aodh Ruadh are saddened to hear of the passing of Tommy McGowan of Portnason. Tommy served as a committee member with the club in his time and was a devoted supporter of Aodh Ruadh throughout his life. Our thoughts are with Tommy's family and wide circle of friends at this sad time.Calling all coaches!
From Tuesday 10th January and the following three Tuesdays Aodh Ruadh Academy are welcoming an Ulster GAA coach, who will run through their new ABC programme of coaching. The sessions will take place on each Tuesday in the Mercy Hall from 8pm to 9.30pm. The sessions are aimed at coaches of our younger boys and girls, and we invite all coaches of under 5s, under 7s and under 9s, and any parents or guardians of these groups who have no experience, but would like to get involved. There is also an open invite to any club members interested in getting involved in coaching. The programme covers the first stage of the new Player Development Pathway. A specific programme of skills and activities has been developed on user friendly coaching cards for coaches with little or no experience. The aim of the programme is to support the developmental stages of all children, regardless of ability and offer a variety of progressive, challenging and fun activities, including warm-up games and skill development activities. The advantage to all club coaches is that all activities can be set up quickly and easily, involving large or small numbers. We look forward to seeing a great turn out this Tuesday in the Mercy Hall!Ladies football

Saturday proved to be a lucky day for the punters with most players opting to back either Derry or Dublin to sail through to Round 2. On the other side of the ledger, the All-Connacht draw saw us wave goodbye to players who'd backed either Galway or Mayo. On Sunday almost 80 players crashed out with the defeat of the reigning All-Ireland Champions Kerry in Ballybofey, maybe more faith in our own is needed! A further few dozen were let down by Tyrone and the one sole punter who backed Meath against Cork is smiling!Club registration
