Hurling
The senior hurling AGM takes place this Friday, 8th November at 8pm in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh.

The senior hurlers are hosting the table quiz in Owen Roe's on Thursday November 14th. Great craic and prizes guaranteed on the night. All support would be greatly appreciated. The questions start flying at 9.30pm.

The curtain came down on the competitive underage hurling season on Sunday last as the minors suffered a heavy defeat against Dungannon in the Ulster club minor semi-final in Ballinascreen. Dungannon justified their tag as one of the tournament's favourites with a strong display of hurling. Aodh Ruadh matched them for long spells in the first half, but Dungannon pulled away in the second half as our lads tired and conceded a number of late goals. It was a tough experience for our lads but we've no doubt they'll learn from it and come back stronger as they have always done. In contrast to Dungannon only two of our players are overage next year. The majority of the Dungannon team were in their last year of the minor grade and their experience of hurling at a higher level than our lads and their greater physicality made for a very difficult game for Aodh Ruadh, but great credit to the young Ballyshannon lads who never gave up. The minors have had a very long year and the majority of the squad have given great commitment all season, this was the only game they lost all year. They deserve great credit for winning the double of the Donegal League and Championship with such a young squad. Thanks to the parents who have supported us all year and who drove the lads to a large amount of games, their support means a lot to the management and is much appreciated.

Juvenile Hurling AGM takes place in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh at 8pm on Thursday 14th November. Anyone with an interest in helping to promote and develop underage hurling in Aodh Ruadh is welcome and we would like to see some more parents getting involved in 2014. No one will be forced into taking a job, so feel free to come along and hear the review of another very busy year of underage hurling in the club.

Ladies
The senior ladies league final meeting with Milford will finally take place this Sunday at 12 noon in Milford.

The minors finished their season on Sunday morning when they played Naomh Muire in Killygordon in the B semi-final. The Aodh Ruadh girls were missing several members of the starting 15 for different reasons and with a panel of 16 on the day it was an uphill climb from the start. However our girls, as always, put in a brave performance and can settle into the off-season with a sense of satisfaction that they gave it their best. Dearbhla Hoey and Katie McCafferty got the Shamettes' goals on the day, but player of the match for Ballyshannon was Niamh Toolan, who put in a really outstanding display between the posts.

Training for the under 8 and under 10 girls will now take a winter break and we'll be back on the field in the spring.

Football
Aodh Ruadh will face Burt in the final of the under 21 B county championship. There was no fixture available at time of mailing, although it is looking like the weekend of November 16th/17th, as Burt are believed to be playing Urris in the division four promotion play-off this weekend.

Alternative Rose Of Ballyshannon
Ballyshannon Musical Society together with Aodh Ruadh CLG present a evening of entertainment, the alternative Rose Of Ballyshannon on Saturday 16th November in Dorrian's Imperial Hotel. The action gets under way at 8pm and will be followed by a DJ. This is Ballyshannon's menfolk as you've never seen them before! Prepare to be dazzled! Alternative Rose Of Ballyshannon
Ballyshannon Musical Society together with Aodh Ruadh CLG present what will be an unforgettable evening of entertainment, the alternative Rose Of Ballyshannon on Saturday 16th November in Dorrian's Imperial Hotel.
Our final line-up of Roses has now been confirmed and we think you will agree that they are most truly a fragrant selection of blooms. Bidding for the crown of Ballyshannon's alternative rose are Kerry Ryan, Niall McCready, Aidan Murray, Shane Toolan, Billy Grimes, Donagh Keon, Thomas 'Busby' Gallagher, Brendan 'Benji' Drummond, Michael Daly, Liam Winters, Paul McGonigle and Luis Moreira.
In the absence of Daithi Ó Sé, who was unavailable due to a conflicting teeth whitening appointment, Sean Perry, our master of ceremonies, will be putting our Roses through their paces. Some of the party pieces literally have to be seen to be believed.
Sorting the Roses from the thistles will be our judges Sylvester Maguire, Patricia Keane and Charlie Gillespie.
Of course you will also be able to get behind your favourite Rose with the winner on the night being determined by one euro votes. Watch out for the Roses on patrol on the night with their buckets, employing all their 'persuasive' qualities.
The action gets under way at 8pm and will be followed by tunes from DJ Mojo. This is Ballyshannon's menfolk as you've never seen them before! Prepare to be dazzled! Admission is on the door priced just €10.
Many thanks to our ever generous sponsors on the night: McGinley's Bar, Brain Campbell Butchers, Sean Óg's, The Beauty Rooms, L&G Sweeney, Centra Ballyshannon, DKP Auctioneers, Whoriskey's Cashelard, The Breesy Centre, The Old Church Vets, McIntyre's Bar and Fin McCool's Bar.

Football
The under 21 B championship final between Aodh Ruadh and Burt takes place this Saturday at Convoy. Throw-in is at 2pm and as this is our last opportunity to claim silverware this season we call for a big support to make their way down on Saturday afternoon to get behind the team.

The Bord na nÓg AGM takes place on Friday 29th November at 7pm in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh. We would encourage anyone interested in underage football and our players' parents / guardians to attend as we reflect on the year past and plan for what we hope will be a successful 2014.

Football
Aodh Ruadh were like a greyhound out of the traps in this under 21 B championship final in Convoy. However, as the rain started to come down Burt's battling qualities saw them get a draw and then almost claim the title, only to be denied by a Peter Boyle special two minutes into added time at the end of extra-time. The final score was Aodh Ruadh 1-15 Burt 1-15. There were a number of impressive Aodh Ruadh performances on the day. Ronan McGurrin and Conor Patton were a strong pairing at centre field, while Peter Boyle played a real captain's role, particularly when the game was in the melting pot. In front of Boyle, Gary Carty soldiered hard at full back. The half forward line of Ronan Drummond, Johnny Gethins and Ryan Granaghan made a great contribution to Aodh Ruadh's best moments, while up front David McGurrin never stopped and Niall Thomas provided a great outlet, getting the Ballyshannon goal. We have a full match report and pictures up on aodhruadh.org. It looks like it will be a while yet before the replay takes place as Burt are now in under 21 hurling semi-final action this coming weekend.

Alternative Rose of Ballyshannon
After an unforgettable evening in Dorrian's last Saturday, an emotional Niall 'Leaving On A Jet Plane' McCready was crowned the Alternative Rose of Ballyshannon. Niall was feted with the acclaim of the crowd and his rival roses, Kerry Ryan, Aidan Murray, Shane Toolan, Billy Grimes, Donagh Keon, Brendan 'Benji' Drummond, Michael Daly, Liam Winters, Paul McGonigle and Luis Moreira after a stern test of his alternative rose credentials. Niall received his tiara from the Ballyshannon Harvest Fair Queen, Laura Gallagher, who looked suitably impressed. However it would be fair to say that all our roses really, er, rose to the occasion and gave everyone there an outstanding night's entertainment which continued on into the wee hours.
A lot of thanks need to go out for helping to pull the event together. Thanks to the ever-suave Sean Perry for keeping the gushing to manageable levels and to our astute judges Michael McLoone, Patricia Keane and Charlie Gillespie. Thanks to David O'Donnell for music and Martin Ferris who took care of lighting. Thanks to Paul Dunleavy of Le Fleur for organising costumes and Marie Reynolds for make-up and hair and also Mary Daly for make-up. Thanks to John Meehan for impromptu musical accompaniment.
Many thanks to our ever generous sponsors on the night: Geraldine Óg's, White's Hotel Group, McGinley's Bar, Brian Campbell Butchers, Sean Óg's, The Beauty Rooms, L&G Sweeney, Centra Ballyshannon, DKP Auctioneers, Whoriskey's Cashelard, The Breesy Centre, The Old Church Vets, McIntyre's Bar and Fin McCool's Bar.
Finally, thanks to everyone else who helped on the night, in whatever capacity, and made it such a fun and entertaining event. We have a great gallery of pictures from the Alternative Rose up on aodhruadh.org.
