Ulster final tickets
We are disappointed to report that the allocation of tickets to Aodh Ruadh for next Sunday's Ulster final has fallen considerably short of the numbers requested. The club's allocation of stand tickets was based on the number of adult members who had paid membership by 31st March. Therefore, only adult memberships paid up to 31st March will be included in the draw for tickets this week. There were 225 ticket requests and we have only 96 allocated tickets. All those who ordered will be contacted after the draw. On a more positive note, all Hill orders (adult and student) have been accommodated.

Football
Our adult footballers had a break over the bank holiday weekend. They return to action this Saturday with a handy one for Erneside boss Conor Cunningham, as Aodh Ruadh make the trip to Kilcar! The senior game throws in at 7.30pm with the reserve curtain-raiser getting under way at 6pm.

Congratulations to Barry Ward's Donegal minors who accounted for Monaghan with a bit to spare in Father Tierney Park on Saturday afternoon. The side are through the provincial semi-final on Saturday, 18th May, where they await the winners of the play-off quarter-finals. We have a great gallery of the exchanges in Father Tierney Park live on aodhruadh.org now.

Our minors had a break this week. Their next action will be against Four Masters next Monday, 13th May. Throw-in at Father Tierney Park will be at 7pm.

Our under 16s made the long trip to Urris for round three of the all-county league on Monday evening and were unlucky to come home empty-handed. The hosts started the brighter getting the early scores before Aodh Ruadh got going. Urris finished the half strongly to take a lead of 2-7 to 1-3 half time lead. The lads put in a huge shift in the second half to draw level at 2-10 to 1-13 with five minutes to play. The hosts were to get the rub of the green on some breaking ball to head back out into a four point lead, but again our lads rallied well to half the deficit but went down to a final score of 3-11 to 1-15. The side train as normal this Wednesday. Then, on Friday we are away to Naomh Bríd in the first round of the Southern Board competition, 6.30pm throw-in. Hard luck to Garreth Brennan, Corey Sheridan and Joe Gibbions and Paul O'Loughlin and the Donegal's Buncrana Cup team, who came up short against a tough Derry side on Saturday in Ballybofey.

The under 10s had a busy week, travelling to Naomh Bríd on Wednesday evening, whilst on Saturday morning they made the long trip to Dungloe. Many thanks to all the parents who travelled and also to Dungloe who put on a great spread of food for the boys after the game. Training continues on Tuesday evening at Coláiste Cholmcille pitch from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. On Saturday, there will be a home game against Killybegs in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh at 3pm. Best wishes to all the boys who are making their First Holy Communion on Saturday.

The under 8 boys are due to travel to Kilcar this week, having had no game this weekend. All details will be in the teams WhatsApp group.

Ladies
Our Division 3 ladies were in action this week, with Robert Emmet's making the trip to Father Tierney Park on Sunday morning. Aodh Ruadh made the early running over the course of the first quarter, Cadhla Dolan pointed from play and placed ball, while Amanda Mahon finished a nice move to make it 0-3 to 0-1 in favour of the homesters at the end of the first quarter. Robert Emmet's came back strongly though, and over the course of the second quarter they reeling off five points, while the Ernesiders could only manage a solitary score from Cadhla Dolan in reply. The second half followed a similar pattern with the Castlefin girls continuing to pick off their points, while Aodh Ruadh struggled to breach the defensive screen. An early Cadhla Dolan free was followed by along wait until Caoimhe Devine got a well deserved goal. There was only a score between the sides at the end, but it was the visitors who were on the right side of it as they secured a 1-5 to 0-11 victory. Dairín Sweeny had a superb game, as did Anna Lisa Rabbitte and Andrea Moore in the middle of the field. Defensively Roisin McGloin, Síofra Hughes and Rebecca McLaughlin all did very well. Up front Cadhla Dolan and Caoimhe Devine both worked tirelessly. The Aodh Ruadh team and scorers were as follows: Gráinne Maguire; Shauna Dolan, Hannah Doherty, Emer McDevitt; Fiona McGonigle, Roisin McGloin, Dáirín Sweeny; Anna Lisa Rabbitte, Andrea Moore; Aoife Bromley, Síofra Hughes, Aoife Travers; Amanda Mahon (0-1), Cadhla Dolan (0-4), Niamh Hoey. Subs Hannah McGuinness, Caoimhe Devine (1-0), Rebecca McLaughlin, Caitlin Gallagher, Niamh McGloin, Rachel Gillespie, Ciarde Sheerin. We have a gallery of shots from the game live now on aodhruadh.org.

This week the Division 1 ladies are due to take on Naomh Mhuire in Annagry this Sunday at 10.30pm.

It was highlighted on the Ulster LGFA social media as 'game of the weekend', but that won't be much comfort to Donegal who came out on the wrong side of a 2-17 to 3-12 thriller against Antrim in the Silver provincial final in Donagh on Sunday. Commiserations to Ciara Larkin, Katie McGowan and Paul Gillespie on the results, but well done on a good run through Ulster to this point.

The under 15 Féile girls got their campaign off to a great start last Thursday, with a good win over Saint Naul's in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh. Goals from Faye Gillespie and Caitlin McGuinness set the Shamettes on their way. Erin Gallagher was super between the sticks, while Sophia Mulligan, Niamh McGrath and Éabha Rogers supplied sterling defensive cover. Ellen Monaghan and Laoise Foy gave their side a great platform in the middle third, while up front Faye Gillespie and Lauren Gallagher had very strong outings. Check out the gallery from the game live now on aodhruadh.org. The under 15 county finals will be played on Saturday, May 18th, with times and venues to be confirmed closer to the time. Also qualified for the finals alongside Aodh Ruadh are Saint Eunan's, Termon, Four Masters, Naomh Columba, Dungloe, Gaeil Fhánada and Moville.

Under 6 girls training will start on Tuesday, 14th May. The session will run from 6pm to 6.45 at Coláiste Cholmcille. Football is a great sporting and social outlet for young girls, so why not have your youngster come up and give it a go? They will be made very welcome by our experienced coaches and mentors.

Hurling
The senior hurlers are due return to action this Friday with a trip to take on Dungloe, throw-in at Páirc na Rosann set for 7.30pm.

Minor hurling training continues this week as they prepare for the delayed start of their season.

After a short break, the county minor hurlers are back in action this weekend in the Celtic Challenge all-Ireland quarter finals. Donegal has been drawn against Roscommon and will play a much-anticipated double header in Hyde Park along with the senior county hurlers on Saturday. The very best of luck to the sizeable Aodh Ruadh representation on the team - Corey Sheridan, Daithi Sheerin, Liam Doogan, Joe Gibbions, Shay Winters, Johnny Lin, Antoin O’Loughlin and Rory Cullen

The under 16 hurlers continued their unbeaten run with a comprehensive win over Saint Eunan's in O'Donnell Park last Thursday. They have a break from games this week but preparation and training will take over for their upcoming Táin Óg finals on Sunday 19th May.

The under 12s were delighted to get their season off to start and even more delighted to clock up a fine win against neighbours, Four Masters. We have a great gallery of shots from the action live on aodhruadh.org now. They are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Ballybofey to take on MacCumhaill's. Best of luck to all the panel.

Our under 10 and under 8 teams will host Four Masters this Sunday in their first home fixture of the year. The boys will have an early start to give plenty of time to get to Clones!

Football
Our seniors came away empty-handed on Saturday evening following their trip in Towney in the league. Kilcar raised their first white flag five minutes in and from that point on they were never headed. They kept the score board ticking over steadily in the first half, with Aodh Ruadh working hard to stay on their tails. By the break Aodh Ruadh were still in touch, with the hosts nursing a three point lead, 0-7 to 0-4. A Kilcar goal shortly after the resumption gave Ballyshannon something of a mountain to climb though. It didn't get much better over the course of the second half, but a late rally of 1-2 in the final five minutes of the game put a bit of a better complexion on the final score line as it finished Kilcar 1-15 Aodh Ruadh 1-9. Aodh Ruadh will look to get back to winning ways this Sunday when Naomh Columba come to Father Tierney Park. The reserve game gets the action under way at 1.30pm, followed by the seniors at 3pm.

Our minors hosted near neighbours Donegal town on Monday evening in the latest round of the league and finished second best on the night. Four Masters started the game with six unanswered points over the course of the first ten minutes before Eoin Cassidy opened Aodh Ruadh's account with a free following a foul on Barry Campbell. After that the visitor's continued to build their tally, adding a further 1-5, the goal coming in the 28th minute, to take a sizeable cushion in at the break. The second half started in more promising fashion for the homesters with an opportunist point from Oran Gillespie. Donegal town answered that immediately though. MJ Ward slotted a point after fielding a great pass in for the next score in reply. Ward then profited from another quality long ball in on the 38th minute and won a free which Eoin Cassidy converted from 20 metres to make it 0-4 to 1-12. Four Masters responded well though, coming back with 1-2 in reply over the next 18 minutes. The Ballyshannon lads good work did get some reward in the closing stages, with a slick Donagh Kelly lay off releasing Eoin Cassidy to nip through and place past the Four Masters keeper. Cassidy followed that up a minute later with a lovely lofted effort. The last say of the game went the way of Four Masters though as they netted with the last kick of the tie to see the final score board reading Aodh Ruadh 1-5 Four Masters 3-15. Liam Doogan was brilliant throughout in an overworked Aodh Ruadh defence, with Morgan McNamee, Johnny Lin and Caolan McCauley putting in honest efforts too. Further out the pitch Ted O'Donnell and Eoin Cassidy contributed well. Second half subs MJ Ward and Garreth Brennan both made a major impact on their introduction. Aodh Ruadh finish second in the group now and await confirmation of their opposition in the next round of fixtures.

The under 16 boys will play Erne Gaels in a challenge match on Friday at 6pm in Father Tierney Park. All players should be up at the Park for 5pm. Their next league fixture is set for next Monday in Father Tierney Park against Milford, throw-in at 7.30pm.

Aodh Ruadh made the trip down to Burt for the Division 2 Féile finals on Saturday. It was a hot day and the round robin stage of four matches were energy sapping for all concerned. The Ernesiders took on a strong, physical Termon side in their first game, but early quick-fire goals from MJ Ward and Callum Dorrian gave Aodh Ruadh a cushion on the score board they were able to retain to the final whistle. After a comfortable win over hosts, Burt, Ballyshannon took on a well-drilled Saint Michael's side in what was to prove a low-scoring game. Aodh Ruadh got the better of the tactical battle to edge the result 1-3 to 0-5, MJ Ward netting the goal. The last match saw Aodh Ruadh facing Muff, with the Inishowen lads winning well. That set up a final show-down against the Naomh Pádraig boys. With tired bodies on both sides scores were at a premium in the decider. MJ Ward and Callum Dorrian hit a goal and a point respectively in the first quarter to head to the break leading by 1-1 to 0-1. Muff got a point on the resumption, but Aodh Ruadh did a magnificent job of battening down the hatches and clinched the Féile title with a two point victory. The team are into Ulster now with fixture details and opposition to be confirmed. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a great and hard-won success.

This week both our under 14 teams are in Southern Board League action. The Group 2 team are in Father Tierney Park where Naomh Columba will be the guests, while the Group 3 team make the trip to Pearse Memorial Park to tackle Ardara. Both games will throw-in at 7.15pm.

The under 10s had a free weekend with no games. Training continues on Tuesday evening at Coláiste Cholmcille from 7pm to 8pm and on Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at the top pitch in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh.

Our under 8s made the short trip across the county boundaries to Garrison where they took on Devenish. The weather was sensational and the boys enjoyed their matches and each of them played very well, thanks as always to the parents for travelling.

Best of luck to Barry Ward's Donegal minors who take on Armagh in the Ulster semi-final on Saturday, 18th May. The game is in Father Tierney Park at 12 noon, so obviously we'd urge a big local support to get up to the Park and get behind the team.

Ladies
Our Division 1 ladies were in Annagry on Sunday morning for their latest league outing. It marked a return to winning ways as the side consolidated their second spot in the table with a 3-13 to 1-3 victory. The first half was tense and hard fought between two committed sides, with Aodh Ruadh just about having the better of it. First point of the day went to Terri Gallagher who was in champagne form for this one. She followed up that opener with a lovely goal after Shauna Dolan battled her way in along the endline and slipped across the small square for Gallagher to goal. Dolan followed up with a free and when Cadhla Dolan sent over from play 16 minutes in Aodh Ruadh had built up a 1-3 to 0-2 lead. The second quarter saw defences on top and Aodh Ruadh could only register further points from Cadhla Dolan, Shauna Dolan and a great long-range effort from Cáit Gillespie as the sides went in with the Shamettes ahead by 1-6 to 0-3. The second half saw Aodh Ruadh go up a gear, with Cáit Gillespie setting the early tempo with a quick point. Shauna Dolan added a fantastic tricky free before repeating the dose a minute later when the outstanding Andrea Moore was upended for another dead ball conversion. The 38th minute saw Aodh Ruadh crafting the move of the game with Sara Gallagher, Cáit Gillespie and Shauna Dolan all combining to set up Andrea Moore to find the net. Gillespie added a point before Naomh Mhuire raided for their sole score of the second half, a 51st minute goal. The Ernesiders continued to pick off their scores though, with Caitlin Gallagher coming on to bag 1-1, Sara Gallagher raiding up from the back to send over a typically classy effort and Shauna Dolan wrapping up a fine contribution with her first score from play. A convincing win for the Ernesiders with strong displays all over the pitch. Rebecca McLaughlin, Anna Rafferty and Roisin McGloin all shone in a defence which had plenty to contend with over the 60 minutes. Aoibhinn McGarrigle, one of the side's most consistent players this year, had a ten out of ten display in the middle of the pitch, while the teak tough Andrea Moore supplied great support. Up front Terri Gallagher led by example with her work on and off the ball.

There is a break in league action this coming weekend for the Ulster final. After that our Division 1 team will be entertaining Naomh Conaill in Father Tierney Park on Sunday 26th May. Our Division 3 side will also be back in action that day with the short trip up the N15 to face Four Masters. Throw-in for both games will be at 10.30am.

The under 14 girls were out on Thursday evening against Derrygonnelly in Canon Maguire Park for their first challenge game of the year. Everyone put in great intensity and showed well on the evening..

Aodh Ruadh will be taking part in the under 15 county finals this Saturday, with times and venues to be confirmed closer to the time. Also qualified for the finals alongside Ballyshannon are Saint Eunan's, Termon, Four Masters, Naomh Columba, Dungloe, Gaeil Fhánada and Moville.

Under 6 girls training starts this Tuesday, 14th May. The session will run from 6pm to 6.45 at Coláiste Cholmcille. Football is a great sporting and social outlet for young girls, so why not have your youngster come up and give it a go? They will be made very welcome by our experienced coaches and mentors.

Best of luck to Caoimhe Keon and the Donegal senior ladies as they take on Armagh in the Ulster final in Saint Tiernach's Park this Sunday at 3.30pm. Well done to Faye Gillespie and the county under 14s who defeated Longford in the All-Ireland Silver Series quarter-final by 2-10 to 1-11. The team now play Clare in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday 25th May.

Hurling
Our senior hurlers were in Dungloe on Friday for their latest outing in the Senior Hurling League. It was to prove a fruitless trip for the Ernesiders with the Gaeltacht men prevailing on a scoreline of 6-15 to 1-8. The team have a break this weekend before a rare home fixture on Friday 24th May, Carndonagh due to the make the trip down to Father Tierney Park.

Minor training continues on Tuesday and Thursday.

The under 16s are back in action this week with a round 4 league clash against Setanta at the Cross on Thursday. Then on Sunday they will be competing in the Táin Óg finals. The team won all of their group stage matches and are heading into the finals topping division 1. Venue and opponents are yet to be confirmed but it's destined to be a tough affair. The very best of luck to mentors, Paul Sheridan, Mark Sheerin and all the lads.

The under 12 panel have no match this week as Thursday 16th May will see the 2024 County Skills Day taking place in Convoy. Players born in 2012 are invited to attend to participate with places for the National Event Day in Croke Park in June to be won.

Our under 8 and under 10 boys had an early start on Sunday morning with their Go Games fixture against Four Masters. We had plenty of hurling for the boys even with some sleepy heads (parents and coaches, not the players!) after the communions on Saturday. They boys had a 10am start to make sure they had plenty of time for anyone going to Clones. Training continues on Sundays at 11.45am.

The county minors were disappointed to have lost out on an All-Ireland semi-final place when they met Roscommon in Athleague last Saturday. The team dominated for the first half and were ahead by a goal and two points at the half time break. However, it was Roscommon who took control in the second half and eventually won out by four points. The team had a fantastic season, winning all their round games and topping their group. Our thanks are extended to coach Daithi Roberts and all the back room team for all their time and efforts. Congratulations to all the Aodh Ruadh players who lined out in the green and gold over the season. It was great to see such a large Aodh Ruadh representation and there's no doubt these lads will be back at it again next year. Well done to Corey Sheridan, Joe Gibbions, Shay Winters, Daithi Sheerin, Liam Doogan, Johnny Lin, Sean Maguire, Lennon Canny, Rory Cullen and Antóin O’Loughlin.

Off the pitch
The club supported some great charity initiatives over the past week. First up was the 32 32 32 challenge on Friday afternoon. Brian Kelly, Eoghan Diffley, Emmet Burke, Ciaran McManus, and Conor Murphy were in Ballyshannon as part of their mission to kick points in all 32 counties of Ireland, visiting a different club pitch in each county. The group are raising funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease. They met up with some club members on Friday and had great craic as they raised funds for this super cause. You can check on the gallery of the visit on aodhruadh.org, you can also contribute to this cause on GoFundMe.

The following morning saw Darkness Into Light taking place on Rougey with a significant contribution by Aodh Ruadh volunteers to what was a very special and enjoyable fundraiser. Again, you can still make contributions to this cause online at darknessintolight.ie.

Scór Sinsear
Well done to our Tráth na gCeist team of Paddy Kelly, Sylvester Maguire, Eamonn Martin Maguire and John Hughes who finished a very creditable seventh at the Scór Sinsear All-Ireland finals in Killarney on Saturday. The questions were challenging for all concerned, and Aodh Ruadh put in a good display to finish just five points off the top three.

Ballyshannon Bingo
Well done to Caroline Finnerty on landing the €250 jackpot last Tuesday, 7th May. The €1,000 Spring Snowball rolls to 56 numbers this week, with Mary Reynolds taking the €100 house prize. Football
Aodh Ruadh returned to winning ways with an emphatic win over Naomh Columba in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh. The opening stages were evenly fought, but the more the game wore on, the more Ballyshannon gained a stranglehold on the game. Michael McKenna got the first score of the game three minutes in, but Glen quickly levelled with a free. Jack Gallagher opened his account for the day with a 7th minute free. He added a second shortly after before the lively Eoghan Kelly fisted over. Naomh Columba reeled off a trio of points from the 11th to the 17th minute to get back on terms, but the Ernesiders promptly pulled away again. Jack Gallagher came raking through the visitors defence before unselfishly laying off for Eoghan Kelly to blast home from a metre out. The remainder of the half saw Aodh Ruadh picking off their points, starting when Darragh Flood Dolan collected from Shane McGrath and split the posts from close in. Michael McKenna, Eoghan Kelly (2) and David Dolan all raised white flags, and just before the break Eamonn McGrath had a great chance to get his side's second goal, but his rasping effort flashed just over the bar. The left it Aodh Ruadh 1-10 Naomh Columba 0-4, and the homesters well in control. Jack Gallagher got the scoring going early in the second half with a free after just 30 seconds. Naomh Columba did hit an answering score, but Gallagher just came back with another free. Another Glen point was cancelled out by a thumping Niall Murray shot. The next two points went the way of Naomh Columba, but a Jack Gallagher free and an absolute screamer from Nathan Boyle kept the score board ticking over for the homesters. As the game wound down Boyle kept the crowd entertained with another scorching point before Donagh McIntyre came in and picked off a brace of well-taken scores. Glen slotted a couple themselves to leave the final score board reading Aodh Ruadh 1-18 Naomh Columba 0-10. A well-deserved and badly needed win for Conor Cunningham's men as they bid to start moving up the table. Eoghan Kelly was phenomenal in this game with Darragh Flood Dolan also putting himself about to good effect. Eamonn McGrath and Michael McKenna also stood out in what was a great team effort. Best wishes to Peter Boyle for a speedy recovery after sustaining an ankle injury at the end of the first half. The Aodh Ruadh team and scorers were as follows: Peter Boyle; Aidan Sweeny, Michael Ward, Ryan Keenaghan; Michael McKenna (0-2), Niall Murray (0-1), Kyle Murray; Eamonn McGrath (0-1), Shane McGrath; Eoghan Kelly (1-3), David Dolan (0-1), Darragh Flood Dolan (0-1); Eddie Lynch, Jack Gallagher (0-5f), Callum O'Halloran. Subs: Aaron Cullen for Peter Boyle (injured) 30 minutes; Nathan Boyle (0-2) for Darragh Flood Dolan 41 minutes; Diarmuid McInerney in for Callum O'Halloran - Blood sub 44-53 minutes; Donagh McIntyre (0-2) for David Dolan 54 minutes. Check out aodhruadh.org for a gallery of shots from the match.

In the opener in a very summery Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh, the reserves put on a champagne display in an open and entertaining game of football. The scores were flying in from early doors. Harry Howarth popped over a nice opener after 30 seconds, which was followed by a placed shot to the net from Cian McKenna. Naomh Columba then registered their first point of the game before James Ward pointed on his senior debut. Harry Howarth then doubled his tally before Damian Weber converted a free after clumsy foul on Jake Foley. Naomh Columba pointed in reply, but then the game's second goal arrived in the tenth minute. Colm McGloin flighted a dream of a ball into the path of Harry Howarth who took it on the run and planted it past the Glen keeper. Howarth and the influential Senan Rooney both got on the mark before Glen next troubled the score board operator. They followed that up with a goal, but Senan Rooney quickly cancelled that out, slaloming through the Glen defence before stroking to the net. Naomh Columba did come back with four point from the 17th to the 26th minutes, but their goose was pretty much cooked in the 27th minute when Damian Weber sold the keeper two solo dummies before netting and followed that with another goal 30 seconds later to make it 4-6 to 1-8. The visitors did have a chance to get a lifeline just before the interval, but Aaron Cullen pulled off a mighty save to deny them from the penalty spot. A goal from the hosts got the scoring going for the second half, and Senan Rooney and Colm McGloin both added points before Naomh Columba's next score in the 44th minute. Aodh Ruadh responded with style, Colm McGloin belting over a fine score which Kerry Ryan quickly followed with a goal in the 48th minute. Damian Weber completed his hat-trick a minute later after rounding the keeper. Senan Rooney and James Ward added further points as it finished 7-11 to 1-9. A very strong display from the Ballyshannon lads. James Ward had an excellent debut, getting up the pitch for two good points. Aaron Cullen showed his class with the penalty stop and canny restarts. Further up the pitch Colm McGloin was in phenomenal form, pulling the strings in the middle third. Shane Gillespie made a big impact on his introduction while Harry Howarth really carried the game to Glen in the early stages. Senan Rooney and Damian Weber also caused the visitors defence no end of headaches. The Aodh Ruadh team and scorers were as follows: Starting team Aaron Cullen; Ciaran Slevin, Luke Carr, James Ward (0-2); Jake Foley, Conor Foy, James Gallagher; Odhran McGarrigle, Aengus Sweeny; Colm McGloin (0-2), Damian Weber (3-1f), Harry Howarth (1-3); Senan Rooney (0-3, 1f), Ryan Daly, Cian McKenna (1-0). Subs: Shane Gillespie for Odhran McGarrigle 28 minutes; Diarmuid Slevin for Harry Howarth 45 minutes; Kerry Ryan (1-0) for Cian McKenna 45 minutes; David Roper for Aengus Sweeny 52 minutes. Head along to aodhruadh.org where we have a gallery of shots live now.

This Sunday our adult teams travel to Ballybofey. The reserves throw-in at 1.30pm in MacCumhaill Park, followed by the seniors at 3pm.

Minor training continues on Wednesday and Friday.

Hard luck to the Barry Ward's Donegal minors who just left themselves too much to do in the second half of their Ulster semi-final against Armagh in Father Tierney Park last Saturday. We have a gallery of shots from the game live now on aodhruadh.org.

Our under 16s had a useful run out against Erne Gaels last Friday night. Both teams registered high scores in a more open game than we usually see in competitive league action. The under 16s came up second best in the Park on Monday evening as Milford just had too much in the way of physique and intensity for the homesters. The sides swapped early points, before Callum Dorrian edged his side back in front after five minutes. Milford came back with a goal though, and Corey Sheridan had to be alert to stop a second in the 15th minute. Milford did extend their lead in the following moments though to make it 1-2 to 0-3. Ten minutes from the break a foul on Eoghan Gallagher was converted by MJ Ward. However, the visitors came back with a run of four points to go in at the interval leading by six. The Ernesiders opened the second half scoring with another MJ Ward dead ball. Milford pointed in reply, but Ward was on the mark from another free in the 36th minute to make it 0-5 to 1-7. Corey Sheridan then cut the deficit again with a spectacular long range point. Milford responded emphatically though, going up the pitch from the kick out to hit the net. They added a further point before MJ Ward was able to reply with a placed ball to make it 2-8 to 0-7. Ward finished off Aodh Ruadh's best move of the game with a fine point after a neat interchange with Darragh McCready, but again Milford came back with a goal to leave them with a nine point cushion going into the final quarter. Gareth Brennan landed a point as the Ballyshannon lads continued to battle gamely. Milford raised a trio of white flags over the next five minutes, but this time it was Aodh Ruadh's turn to hit back, Corey Sheridan finding the net from close range after a good pass in. That was to be the final score as it finished 3-10 to 1-9 in favour of the big strong Milford outfit. Fionn Hartin was probably Aodh Ruadh's player of the match, showing real appetite for the battle. Antoin Duffy made some good saves when he made the move to net minder. Corey Sheridan had some good moments out the pitch. Up front MJ Ward worked hard and Darragh McCready made an impact on his introduction. The Aodh Ruadh team was Corey Sheridan; Aaron McLoone, Daithi Sheerin, Fionn Hartin; Oisin McCadden, Gareth Brennan, Finn Doogan; Joe Gibbions, Antoin Duffy; Eoghan McCadden, Eoghan 'Blake' Gallagher, Max Roper; Callum Dorrian, MJ Ward, Eoghan Gallagher. Subs Joey Daly, Anthony Duffy, Turlough Hughes, Connor Greenan, Ethan Kerrigan, Darragh McCready, Dara Vaughan, Pablo. We have a gallery of images from the game live now on aodhruadh.org. Training continues for the team as normal on Wednesday and Friday.

Under 10 training continues on Tuesday evening at Coláiste Cholmcille from 7pm to 8pm and on Saturday and at the top pitch in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh from 10am to 11am.

Our under 8s had the opportunity to play at half time in the Ulster minor semi-final, in Father Tierney Park. We had 27 young footballers playing and the panel watched the game together – thanks to all their parents for bringing them up. We have some shots of the lads in action up on aodhruadh.org now. This Friday evening, one of our club and county greats, Brian Roper will be taking the boys though their paces in their training session at the usual time of 7pm. On Saturday the boys are hosting a blitz in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh, with teams coming from Enniskillen, Killybegs, Saint Nauls, Bundoran, Glencar Manorhamilton and Pettigo. The action starts at 12 noon and will keep running until 2pm. It would be great to see some support for the boys on the day.

Ladies
After a break in competitive action for the Ulster finals, our Division 1 team will be entertaining Naomh Conaill in Father Tierney Park this Sunday. Our Division 3 side will also be back in action that day with the short trip up the N15 to face Four Masters. Throw-in for both games will be at 10.30am. On Sunday past, it wasn't to be for Caoimhe Keon and the Donegal ladies in the Ulster final against Armagh. There was better luck for Eimear McMahon though in the Junior Ulster final where she scored two points as Fermanagh comfortably accounted for Derry.

Aodh Ruadh under 16s were on the road to Pearse Memorial Park last Tuesday and they came away with a super win against very difficult opposition. The Aodh Ruadh goals were well protected with the sure hands of Erin Gallagher. In the defence every loose ball was swept up securely by Niamh McGrath and Megan Murphy. Despite hit after hit Ellen Monaghan put in a tigerish and committed 60 minutes. Aodhbha O'Donnell, Caitlin McGuinness and Kate McGrath put battled hard for the ball and came out of some great tussles to keep the Ardara scores to the minimum. Caitlin McGuinness, Laoise Foy and Emily McNamee covered every inch of the pitch, driving on with the ball and smothering any opposition advances. Up front Rachel Gillespie, Katie McGowan and Ciara Larkin put in tight work to see Aodh Ruadh over the line. Emma O'Donnell and Cadhla Gillespie picked out some brilliant passes and provided excellent support. Faye Gillespie's hunger for points never ceased and she finished the game with a handsome tally. Next up for the team is their county quarter-final on Tuesday evening in Mountcharles against Saint Naul's at 7pm. We'd love to see a big Ballyshannon support down there to get behind the girls.

Huge congratulations to our under 15 girls who claimed the Division 2 county title and the finals blitz in Convoy on Saturday.

The under 12 girls continued their busy start to the season with their fourth blitz in five weeks, hosting Naomh Ultan and Sain Naul's on Saturday afternoon. 30 girls lined out for Aodh Ruadh across two teams, playing some wonderful football, showing great teamwork, strong defensive work and some super score taking. The blitz finished with a well contested game between the two Aodh Ruadh sides. Many thanks to Naomh Ultan and Saint Nauls for travelling, to Sarah Daly and Lauren Foy for refereeing and to all parents who helped with refreshments afterwards. Well done to the girls who have put in consistently impressive performances over the past month.

Under 6 girls training continues this Tuesday from 6pm to 6.45 at Coláiste Cholmcille.

Best of luck to Faye Gillespie and the county under 14s who take on Clare in the All-Ireland Silver semi-final this Saturday.

Hurling
Our senior hurlers return to action this Friday in the Summer Hurling League, Carndonagh due to the make the trip down to Father Tierney Park for an 8pm throw-in.

The minors will be hoping to finally get some competitive action started when they meet Dungloe / Gaoth Dobhair on Thursday evening at 7.30pm with the away venue still to be confirmed. Best of luck to the team and coaches Daithi and Danny Breen.

Our under 16s clocked up yet another win in the all county League last Thursday when they had a comprehensive win over Setanta at The Cross. Then on Sunday they travelled to Celtic Park, Derry to take part in the Táin Óg final against Robert Emmet's, Slaughtneil. Having won the competition at division 2 last year, the team were promoted to division 1 in the company of such hurling greats as Cushendun, Carrickmore and Kevin Lynch's. They went on to win all of their group stage matches and top the division. This set them up in a final against Slaughtneil. Having already beaten Slaughtneil in the first round, the panel was well aware that this would be a really tough battle. It certainly didn't disappoint. Aodh Ruadh started slowly and at the 15 minute mark found themselves 10 points to nil down. They rallied and showed exactly why they were top of the table and by half-time the score was Aodh Ruadh 2-3 to Slaughtneil 1-8. They fought hard in the second half and even went ahead twice, but the titanic battle finally ended in a heart breaking one point loss. Although the boys were downhearted and bruised, they have so much to be proud of, competing at such a high level with the best in Ulster. Well done to all the team and coaches Paul Sheridan and Mark Sheerin. This team will have an extended break from competition now as the games halt for the Junior Certificate exams.

Congratulations to our three under 12 players who travelled to the Centre of Excellence in Convoy last Thursday to participate in the under 12 county Skills Competition. Emily Ryan, Hugh Mealiffe and Shay McNulty flew the flag for Aodh Ruadh at the event and gave a very good account of themselves.

Our under 10 and under 8 teams hosted MacCumhaill's in the sunshine in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh on Sunday morning. The boys played very well and showed off how much they have been improving over the last few weeks. This Sunday we face Setanta, with all details in the teams WhatsApp.

Football
It was another defeat on the road for Aodh Ruadh as MacCumhaill's came out on the right side of the 0-11 to 0-8 scoreline after a low scoring contest in Ballybofey. It was the Ernesiders who had the better of things in the opening stages, striding out into a 0-4 to 0-1 after 18 minutes thanks to points from Niall Murray, Jack Gallagher (free), Eoghan Kelly, and Michael McKenna. MacCumhaill's clawed back two points over the remainder of the half to be just the minimum behind the visitors at the turn-around. MacCumhaill's levelled quickly on the resumption. Michael McKenna did edge Ballyshannon back in front, but Ballybofey landed two points in reply to go in front for the first time. An Eddie Lynch point levelled it again, but the hosts nudged in front once more. Jack Gallagher squared it up as the game moved into the final quarter, but MacCumhaill's reeled off three unanswered points to take control of the tie. Jack Gallagher did register a late point for Aodh Ruadh, but by that stage time was running out on the visitors and MacCumhaill's had done enough to claim victory. The Aodh Ruadh team and scorers were as follows: Karl O’Brien; Aidan Sweeny, Michael Ward, Ryan Keenaghan; Michael McKenna (0-2), Niall Murray, Kyle Murray; Eamonn McGrath, Shane McGrath; Eoghan Kelly (0-1), David Dolan, Darragh Flood Dolan; Eddie Lynch (0-1), Jack Gallagher (0-3f), Callum O’Halloran. Subs: Cian Dolan for David Dolan, Darren Drummond for Eamonn McGrath, Johnny Gethins for Calum O’Halloran, Donagh McIntyre for Ryan Keenaghan, Diarmaid McInerney for Darragh Flood Dolan.

There was no joy for the reserves either on Sunday with the hosts taking the points in a one-sided 4-19 to 0-7 victory.

Our adult men have a break this weekend and will return to league fare on Saturday 8th June against Glenswilly. The action gets under way at Father Tierney Park with the reserves at 6pm, followed by the seniors at 7.30pm.

Following a successful league campaign the minors have made it to the Division 1 regional semi-final against Naomh Conaill. This will be played this Tuesday in Glenties with a throw-in time of 7.30pm.

The under 16 Southern Regional Board competition gets under way this week, with a home fixture against Bundoran on Friday night, in Father Tierney park, throw-in at 7.30pm. A huge well done to Garreth Brennan, Corey Sheridan, Joe Gibbions, Paul O'Loughlin and the Donegal under 16 on defeating Dublin 4-11 to 3-12 in the Buncrana Cup on Saturday. A win against Monaghan this coming Saturday should see Donegal into the semi-final stages.

Under 10 training continues on Tuesday evening at Coláiste Cholmcille from 7pm to 8pm and on Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at the top pitch in Munday's Field. On Bank holiday Monday, the boys will travel to Ardara for the annual Joe Larry tournament involving 24 teams.

We had a brilliant afternoon of under 8 football on Saturday in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh with teams from Aodh Ruadh, Bundoran, Killybegs, Erne Gaels, Pettigo, Saint Naul's, Glencar Manorhamilton and Enniskillen Gaels putting on a great exhibition of skills, commitment and sheer enjoyment of the game. Aodh Ruadh had 30 nearly lads up giving it there all over two action-packed hours. Well done to all the coaches and mentors, as well to the parents who supplied a great spread of refreshments for the big numbers up in Munday's. Thanks to all the officials who took charge of games across the course of the afternoon. A special word for John Larkin who did a great job of organising and gave all the players the real Croke Park treatment! We have a great gallery of images from the blitz up on aodhruadh.org now. In other news, our under 8s were delighted to have club and county legend Brian Roper take a training session on Friday evening. Brian worked on their kicking, and making sure they all take their four steps before passing, shooting or soloing. A big thank you to Brian for his time! Next week the boys are taking a break with the bank holiday weekend, but will be going up as a team to see their under 16 club mates play their home game on Friday evening.

Ladies
The Division 1 ladies played out an entertaining and high quality game in the Park on Sunday morning against Naomh Conaill. It was nip and tuck through the first half and by the half-time break Ernesiders trailed by a point, 1-3 to 1-4, Cáit Gillespie with the goal. The sides went blow for blow again in the second half, but when Glenties hit the net for a second time Aodh Ruadh found themselves four points down. The Shamettes put in an immense effort to cut the deficit to a point, but with time running out the Blues pulled down the shutters. With the homesters patiently probing for a levelling score time ran out and Naomh Conaill took the points, 2-7 to 2-8 the final scoreline. The home side were well served with super displays in defence by Caitlin McGarrigle, Roisin McGloin and Sara Gallagher. Up front Eimear McMahon worked very hard and was rewarded with a second half goal, while Andrea Moore and Rebecca McLaughlin both made strong contributions on their introduction from the bench. We have a gallery of pictures from the game live on aodhruadh.org now.

The Division 3 ladies were in Donegal town on Sunday morning for their league tie against Four Masters. Aodh Ruadh got off to a great start, winning the throw-in and racing through on the posts where Niamh Hoey angled a shot in at the base of the post for a goal. It was an evenly balanced affair over the first quarter with Elaine Dorrian adding two further points and Four Masters coming back with answering scores. The Ballyshannon girls faded in the second quarter while the hosts continued to pick off their points. Aodh Ruadh were still in contact coming up to the break, but a goal shortly before the interval left them with something of a steep hill to climb at 1-11 to 1-2. The Ballyshannon girls rose to the challenge in the second half, growing in confidence as it wore on. Eva McNamara picked off some lovely points and a Dáirín Sweeny goal was a just reward for the huge effort the whole team put in over the half. Niamh McGloin was player of the match, putting in a mighty shift at corner back. Hannah Doherty and Niamh Barrett also had fine games in the defence. In the middle third Megan Murphy, Dáirín Sweeny and Caitlyn Gallagher got through a huge amount of work. Up front Elaine Dorrian was flying with Eva McNamara and Katie McGowan also proving very lively. The squad have a break this week ahead of the return visit of Four Masters to Father Tierney Park the Sunday following.

The under 16s put in a phenomenal performance as they dug deep into their reserves of resilience to get the better of Saint Naul's in the county quarter-finals last Tuesday. After a mighty contest it finished 3-4 to 0-5 in favour of the hard-working Ernesiders. Erin Gallagher in goals kept a clean sheet and her reading of the play was a real asset. Niamh McGrath Aodhbha O'Donnell and Kate McGrath were solid in defence with too many blocks to count. Caitlin McGuinness, Megan Murphy and Ellen Monaghan did a great job of getting out in front taking full advantage of any turn over ball. Laoise Foy and Emily McNamee in midfield worked their socks off and provided excellent support play throughout. Rachel Gillespie, Katie McGowan and Ciara Larkin were also very energetic, making a lot of strong line breaks. Elsewhere Emma O'Donnell regularly got up the other end of the pitch to create turnovers. Faye Gillespie and Cadhla Gillespie were on form in front of the posts, while Niamh Duffy made her mark after half-time setting up a Katie McGowan goal and notching one for herself. Sophia Mulligan and Aoife Hughes brought more solid hands and direct running. Aodh Ruadh were well served by their bench on the night with Aine Neilan and Rebecca Downey making good contributions from the bench. Best of luck to the squad and management as they take on Dungloe in the semi-final this Tuesday down in Dungloe. Thow-in is at 7.30pm.

Under 6 girls training continues this Tuesday from 6pm to 6.45pm at Coláiste Cholmcille.

Well done to Faye Gillespie and the county under 14s who beat Clare 2-14 to 2-9 after extra-time in a rip roaring semi-final against Clare to book their place in the All-Ireland Silver final.

Aodh Ruadh's wait for a first win of the season continues after drawing a blank against Carndonagh on Friday evening. The Inishowen men just had too much firepower and restricted the homesters to sporadic points throughout. After a tough 60 minutes it finished Aodh Ruadh 0-8 Carndonagh 4-23. The Aodh Ruadh team and scorers were as follows: Tommy Clyne; Kieran Rami, Adam Clarke, David Downey, Cian McDonald (0-1), Martin Larkin, Ryan McCormack, Daire Cleary, Tommy Winters, Daniel Breen (0-4), Cian McKenna (0-1), Matiu Tierney (0-1), Deva Ayres (0-1).
