Our adult men return to league fare this Saturday against Glenswilly. The action gets under way at Father Tierney Park with the reserves at 6pm, followed by the seniors at 7.30pm.Our under 16s had their first game in the Southern Regional Board league on Friday evening, a home match v Realt Na Mara. The Bundoran lads scored two late first half goals to go in at half-time three points ahead. Aodh Ruadh stayed in touch in the third quarter, and drew level with 15 minutes left. With Bundoran tiring and fresh Aodh Ruadh subs full of running, our lads pulled away and won well in the end. Our scheduled match on Monday evening has been postponed due to Killybegs being unable to field because of the junior cert. Our next Southern Board match is next Monday, at home to Four Masters, with a 7.30pm throw in.
Despite the inclement weather, the under 10s enjoyed a great day at the annual Joe Larry tournament in Ardara featuring 24 clubs from all over Donegal on bank holiday Monday. 20 boys played eight games over three hours in what was a wonderful day of football. Thank you to all the parents who the travelled. Training continues on Tuesday evening at 7pm to 8pm at the Coláiste Cholmcille pitch and on Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at the top pitch in Munday's Field.
Ladies
The senior ladies squads are both in action this coming weekend. The Division 3 team take on Four Masters this Friday in Father Tierney Park at 8pm, while on Saturday Ardara will be the guests in Ballyshannon.Aodh Ruadh travelled to Dungloe on Tuesday evening for their county semi-final clash with Dungloe. The girls took their time to get started after the long journey and Dungloe had propelled themselves into a 3-2 lead after five minutes. Aodh Ruadh passed up a penalty opportunity which would have changed the complexion of exchanges, but reached half-time trailing 3-12 to 0-3. It would have been very easy to drop the heads, but in the second half the Ballyshannon girls went at it hard and fought like demons. They piled on the pressure over the second 30 minutes and comprehensively out-scored their opponents, but the hill was too big to climb and it finished 3-18 to 2-7 in favour of the homesters. The team can be very proud of the effort the put in across the course of the season. Our thanks to the management team for their hard work over the course of the season and to the parents and guardians for their invaluable support.
Under 6 girls training continues this Tuesday from 6pm to 6.45pm at Coláiste Cholmcille.
Best of luck to Faye Gillespie and the county under 14s who take on Offaly in the All-Ireland Silver final in Carrigallen on Saturday at 2pm.
Congratulations to Anna Rafferty and Calum Gallagher who tied the knot on a glorious day down in Lough Eske on Friday.

Football
Aodh Ruadh picked up an important win in a frigid Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh on Saturday afternoon. There was a strong, cutting breeze across the pitch which made handling and shooting difficult for both sides, but it was Ballyshannon who made the better fist of things over the 60 minutes. The first half was very cagey stuff and it was Glenswilly who got the scoring going with points in the first and ninth minutes. Those were to be the only occasions they troubled the umpires in the opening half though. Aodh Ruadh had to work hard to unlock a congested Glenswilly defence and it took a particularly skillfully executed free from Jack Gallagher to open his side's account in the 12th minute. Frees from Diarmaid McInerney in the 16th and 19th minute then edged Aodh Ruadh in front as they slowly started to take a grip on the game. The final score of the half saw Senan Rooney drilling in a dangerous lateral ball which Aidan Sweeny drove for and batted past the keeper and defender. That left it 1-3 to 0-2 as the sides headed for the half-time team talks. Another McInerney free after a foul on Shane McGrath eased Aodh Ruadh into the second half, but Glenswilly came back with a mark. McInerney cancelled that out with his fourth dead ball and then Matt Gillespie sold a delicious dummy before splitting the posts with a glorious shot, a sign that Aodh Ruadh were really purring now. In the 48th minute it was effectively lights out for Glenswilly as Cian Dolan fired in a ball which wasn't well handled by their defence. Jack Gallagher said thank you very much and placed to the net. Glenswilly got a point in reply, but they leaked another goal five minutes later, a low arcing shot from Johnny Gethins sneaking in under the crossbar. Glenswilly did manage to get a couple of late consolation points, but a break away point finished by Jack Gallagher ensured the result was never in doubt. A patient and resilient team effort from Ballyshannon to take the points here. Aaron Cullen inspired confidence between the posts, as did Conor Patton a calming presence in the an Aodh Ruadh rearguard where Aidan Sweeny also starred. Man of the match was Senan Rooney who made a number of telling contributions to the game, with Eamonn McGrath and Jack Gallagher never putting a foot wrong. The Aodh Ruadh team and scorers were as follows: Aaron Cullen; Aidan Sweeny (1-0), Jason Granaghan, Conor Patton; Eddie Lynch, Niall Murray, Darragh Flood Dolan; Eamonn McGrath, Darren Drummond; Diarmuid McInerney (0-4f), Shane McGrath, Matt Gillespie (0-1); Johnny Gethins (1-0), Jack Gallagher (1-2, 1f), Senan Rooney. Subs: Cian Dolan for Darren Drummond 41 minutes; Donagh McIntyre for Matt Gillespie 46 minutes; Michael McKenna for Darragh Flood Dolan 53 minutes; Ryan Keenaghan for Senan Rooney 55 minutes; Colm McGloin for Johnny Gethins 58 minutes. The reserve game didn't go ahead. The next league outing for Aodh Ruadh will be against Naomh Conaill, with date to be confirmed.
The next Southern Board league match for our under 16s is next Monday, down in Mountcharles against Saint Naul's, with a 7.30pm throw in.
Under 10 training continues as normal on Tuesday evening from 7pm to 8pm at Coláiste Cholmcille and Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at the top pitch in Munday's Field. The boys will play their first game in Father Tierney Park on Wednesday evening when they entertain Saint Naul's at 7pm.
Our under 8s played a game against Four Masters in Father Tierney park in lovely sunshine on Saturday morning. We fielded two teams at under 7, and two teams at under 8 on the day and the boys had a great morning of fun. We have a great gallery of shots from the blitz up on aodhruadh.org. Training as normal on Friday at 7pm, and the team travels to Naomh Bríd on Saturday morning for their next game. Well done to Karl O'Brien, Diarmuid Slevin and the Donegal Masters who recorded a 2-11 to 1-11 win over Antrim over the weekend.
Ladies
The Division 3 ladies were in action on Friday evening in Father Tierney Park in what proved highly entertaining and sporting encounter. Aodh Ruadh lost badly to this opposition a week previous and were coming out with a point to prove in front of their home support. Aodh Ruadh played with the benefit of a steady breeze in the first half and, after taking a while to settle, started to pick off some nice scores through Elaine Dorrian. Heading to the break the Shamettes held a slender one point lead, but a barn-storming goal from Lauren Foy was followed by a point to leave Aodh Ruadh leading by 1-5 to 0-3 at the interval. Four Masters needed a big start to the new half, and duly got it when they bagged a goal in the opening seconds. They then moved into the lead with a series of points as they made good use of the following wind. Aodh Ruadh really rose to the challenge though and points from Eva McNamara and Caoimhe Devine kept Aodh Ruadh in contact. Unfortunately Four Master grabbed a third goal ten minutes from time which put the pressure on Ballyshannon to chase scores. They made a great full-hearted effort and were rewarded with fine scores from Amanda Mahon and Caoimhe Devine. However, a frantic defensive effort by the Donegal town girls denied the Ernesiders what would have been a well-deserved equalising point it finished Aodh Ruadh 1-12 Four Masters 3-7. There were a lot of good displays by the Aodh Ruadh players. Niamh Barrett was very solid, while Rebecca McLaughlin is a player with a lot of promise. Katie McGowan did a great job in quelling Masters danger-woman. Lauren Foy, Ciara Larkin, Eva McNamara and Amanda Mahon all put in a huge effort across the course of the game. Up front the attacking trio provided a great outlet. The Aodh Ruadh team was as follows Gráinne Maguire; Niamh McGloin, Niamh Barrett, Shauna Dolan; Rebecca McLaughlin, Katie McGowan, Kyra McNulty; Lauren Foy, Fiona McGonigle; Eva McNamara, Ciara Larkin, Amanda Mahon; Elaine Dorrian, Caoimhe Devine, Niamh Hoey. Subs: Caitlin Gallagher, Rachel Gillespie, Cadhla Dolan, Hannah McGuinness, Katie Gallagher, Aodhbha O'Donnell, Cadhla Gillespie, Ciarde Sheerin, Dearbhla O'Moore. There is a gallery of pictures from the games live now on aodhruadh.org.This Sunday both adult ladies teams are in action. The Division 1 ladies host Moville, while the Division 3 team make the trip to Killygordon to take on Red Hugh's. Throw in for both games is 10.30am.
The under 14s played out a draw last Thursday in a challenge against Gaoth Dobhair. It was a very hard game with Magheragallon girls having a significant size advantage. Aodh Ruadh were brilliant defensively, while the attack was led by Zara Meade and Rose Finnegan was also very strong. In the middle Eloise Scallon, Lexi Roper and Jenna Britton constantly ran and supported. It finish nine points apiece after good battle which sets the Shamettes up nicely for start of league this Saturday away to Ardara.
Under 6 girls training continues this Tuesday from 6pm to 6.45pm at Coláiste Cholmcille.
Well done to Caoimhe Keon who bagged a lovely goal as Donegal drew with Kerry in their All-Ireland championship opener 1-6 to 0-9. Meanwhile, it wasn't to be for Faye Gillespie and the county under 14s in the All-Ireland Silver final, but the girls should be very proud of their efforts over the course of a very successful year. Well done to Niamh Hughes and the Groningen Gaels ladies on defeating Brussels to win the Benelux championships in Maastricht recently.

The next fixtures for our adult men will be on the last weekend of June away against Naomh Conaill. Firm fixture details closer to the time. Our under 14s played Four Masters in the Southern Regional Board semi-final last weekend. Despite the best efforts of the Ballyshannon lads it proved a one-sided encounter and Donegal town were deserved winners on the night. We have a gallery of pictures from the games live on aodhruadh.org now.
The under 10s played their 15th game of the season on Wednesday evening, entertaining Saint Naul's in a first outing on Father Tierney Park. This Saturday they will travel to our neighbours Naomh Bríd for a four team blitz. Throw-in is at 10.30am and boys are asked to be at the pitch in Ballintra for 10am. Training continues as normal on Tuesday evening at Coláiste Cholmcille from 7pm to 8pm.
Our under 8s travelled to Naomh Bríd on last weekend for a game against our neighbours on Saturday. We fielded three teams and the boys really enjoyed their morning of football. Training as normal on Friday at 7pm, and the team travels to Naomh Mhuire on Saturday morning for their next game.
Buncrana Cup
This Saturday, 22nd June, Donegal play Cavan in Father Tierney Park with an 11.00am throw-in. This is a good standard of under 16 inter-county football and we wish the team and manager Paul O'Loughlin the very best. The usual stewarding help is needed from 9.30am. As there is a lot of club activity expected that morning in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh, club car parking will be in the Workhouse area and the school field and not in the enclosure at the changing rooms.Ladies
Our Division 1 ladies continued their good form with a strong win over Moville on Sunday morning in Father Tierney Park. The homesters scored freely over the course of the first half with Gillian Dufficy in champagne form. She notched the first point of the game, while Cáit Gillespie followed up shortly after with a goal as Aodh Ruadh settled quickly. Further points were added by Andrea Moore and Terri Gallagher. A phenomenal turn-over from the busy Roisin McGloin provided the opportunity for Dufficy to raise a second green flag as Ballyshannon headed to the break with a comfortable cushion. The Ernesiders picked up where they left off in the second half with Dufficy, Gillespie and Gallagher again accounting for the lion's share of the scores. After another impressive 30 minutes the final whistle sounded on a 3-13 to 1-5 win for Ballyshannon. Great displays all over the pitch for the hosts. In the defence Roisin McGloin, Niamh Barrett and Anna Rafferty turned over a lot of ball. Andrea Moore was very impressive in the middle third with Terri Gallagher having a vintage game and Gillian Dufficy simply unmarkable. The Aodh Ruadh team was as follows: Grainne Maguire; Roisin McGloin, Niamh Barrett, Katie McGowan; Lauren Foy, Anna Rafferty, Rebecca McLaughlin; Orla Keon, AnnaLisa Rabbite; Dáirín Sweeny, Cáit Gillespie, Andrea Moore; Gillian Dufficy, Terri Gallagher, Síofra Hughes. Subs: Eva McNamara, Cadhla Dolan. We have pictures from the game live on aodhruadh.org.The Division 3 ladies came up short against a superior Red Hugh's outfit in Killygordon on Sunday morning. The Aodh Ruadh girls worked hard right through the game, but the hosts made the most of their possession to run out comfortable winners. Ballyshannon had started brightly with Amanda Mahon finishing a well constructed score. Red Hugh's responded with three points, but Aodh Ruadh seized the lead in the 17th minute again when Laoise Foy and Aoife Travers teamed up to release Katie Gallagher to slip a polished finish to the net. The homesters responded strongly with 1-4 over the next six minutes, but the Ernesiders kept themselves in the hunt with an opportunist goal from Caitlin Gallagher. That would have left matters in the balance at the interval, but Killygordon hit another 1-4 before the break to lead 2-8 to 2-1. The sides swapped points at the start of the second half with Laoise Foy hitting a fine effort before Rachel Gillespie flighted over a free. Red Hugh's took charge from there on though, and Aodh Ruadh's sole scoring contribution over the remainder of the half came in the shape of a fine Laoise Foy goal. It finished Red Hugh's 4-15 Aodh Ruadh 3-3. Despite the result Aodh Ruadh had a lot of positives to take from the game with Niamh Hoey pulling off a string of great stops and putting great distance in her restarts. In front of her Shauna Dolan, Kyra McNulty and Niamh McGloin put in a huge shift in an overworked defence. Further out the pitch Megan Murphy, Aodhbha O'Donnell, Laoise Foy, Fiona McGonigle, and Rachel Gillespie never stopped running. The Aodh Ruadh team were Niamh Hoey; Shauna Dolan, Kyra McNulty, Niamh McGloin; Emily McNamee, Megan Murphy, Aodhbha O'Donnell; Fiona McGonigle, Laoise Foy; Aoife Travers, Rachel Gillespie, Amanda Mahon; Caitlin Gallagher, Katie Gallagher, Aoife Bromley. Subs: Ciarde Sheerin, Hannah McGuinness, Cadhla Gillespie, Emma O'Donnell, Caitlin McGuinness.
The under 15s take on Bundoran on Tuesday evening in Father Tierney Park at 7.30pm.
The under 14s had their first league game of the season last Tuesday and left Pearse Memorial Park with a well-deserved 3-4 to 4-6 victory. The Shamettes had a great first half, dominating in all sectors to take a 0-2 to 3-3 to the dressing room at the turn-around. Ardara came storming back with early goal in second half before the Aodh Ruadh girls went back into an 11 point lead. As the game went into last ten minutes Ardara got a couple of late goals to close the gap, but the clock was against them at that stage. It was a great start to league for Faye Gillespie who chalked up an impressive 3-4, Zara Meade with 0-2 and Lexi Roper with a wonder goal. The middle third worked very hard with half backs and half forwards always in support. Erin Gallagher was confident as always under the high ball. The full back line of Sophie O’Malley, Olivia Coyle, and Emer McGarrigle were very efficient in the first half with Ardara getting very little change from this teak tough trio. The squad are on their travels against this week, heading to Fintra to take on Killybegs on Thursday at 7pm.
Under 6 girls training continues this Tuesday from 6pm to 6.45pm at Coláiste Cholmcille.

Meanwhile, congratulations to our under 12 hurlers, Freddie Knott and Oisín O'Neill on securing the gold and silver, respectively, at the Donegal Community Games Poc Fáda competition at the weekend.
Well done to our under 10s who travelled to the all-county blitz in convoy on Sunday. We were missing a few players with Community Games and Fathers' day, but it was a great morning of hurling for the boys that travelled! Training continues for the team on Sunday at 11.45am.

Ladies
The minors will have to wait a further week to get their season under way following the postponement of their game against Glenfin. They are at home on Tuesday 2nd July at 7pm against Killybegs.Best of luck to our Féile Girls who are in action this weekend. They geared up for the competition with an enjoyable challenge against Bundoran last week. The Féile group stages sees the Erneside girls drawn in a group with Kingscourt, Irvinestown and Scotland.
The under 14s had to cut their cloth last Thursday with a lot of players away on holidays. Unfortunately Killybegs were able to take advantage of that in the first half and build up a strong lead. Aodh Ruadh rallied very well in the second half, but had just left themselves too much work to do as it finished 4-9 to 1-6. On Saturday the team had a challenge game against Gortin / Badoney ladies on a great day for football. Our girls did very well, playing some great supporting football, taking some excellent scores, tackling hard and running hard in hot conditions.
Our under 12 girls travelled to Tyrone on Saturday morning to play Trillick. We fielded three teams, with each team playing three games against Trillick sides. All teams had really convincing performances in each game. Without exception each of the girls played fantastically, but special mentions to Niamh Patton and Amy McNeely who drove their team on, Tiah Kane and Ava Garvey who put in super performances at midfield for their team, and Ella Dorrian and Nicole McGrath who led their team with great style. Well done to top scorers on each of the teams Kayla McDermott and Saoirse O'Donnell who were joint top scorers for their team, Emily Gallagher and Leah O'Malley-Malone. Training continues Tuesday at 6pm and Saturday morning at 9.30am.
Under 6 girls training continues this Tuesday from 6pm to 6.45pm at Coláiste Cholmcille.
Hurling
Our senior hurlers return to action this Friday when Setanta come to Father Tierney Park. Throw-in time to be confirmed. Our minors were unlucky to lose by the smallest of margins last Thursday when they made the long journey to Carndonagh. It was the first competitive match for this young panel this year and they were unlucky to concede a late second half goal to see them go down 2-9 to 1-11. The team have no match this week, but training will continue as normal.
The under 16s will be back in competitive action this week after the break for the state exams. They welcome Derry side, Na Magha to Father Tierney Park. Na Magha applied and were accepted by the County Board this year to join the Donegal League. Both teams are currently joint at the top of the all-county league table, so it should be a good battle. Throw in is at the later time of 8pm. Best of luck to Paul, Mark & all the team.
Our under 12s will also line out in Father Tierney Park this Thursday when they host Buncrana. Throw in is at 6.30pm and it would be great to see a large turnout of local support for the team.
The boys had no game over the weekend, but Senan Rooney came up to take the session with both panels. Before training he spoke about his love of both our codes and how he balanced playing club and inter-county hurling and football at underage level and as an adult.
There will be no training this Sunday with Donegal playing in Croke Park, but we are hoping to train this Thursday instead - details will be in both teams WhatsApp groups.
This week will be the last under 6 hurling session before our summer break.
The planning for the juvenile hurling annual trip to Croke Park is well underway. Keep an eye on the team WhatsApp groups for more details.
