~ FOOTBALL ~
Aodh Ruadh now contemplate the gloomy proposition of division three football and intermediate championship in 2011. A flurry of scores from the Fanad Gaels in the first 22 minutes of the division two relegation decider at Castlefinn effectively finished the game as a contest. Luck was emphatically not on Aodh Ruadh's side, but the final score of 3-12 to 2-7 does not reflect Fanad's dominance of the game. Best for Aodh Ruadh were PJ Magee who fought hard throughout, Sticky Ward who hit 2-5, Encouragingly, Donagh McIntyre, Ronan McGurrin and Conor Patton all showed well when they came on. We have a full match report and pictures from the game.

The revolution starts this Friday 5th November when indoor underage training commences this Friday, 5th November for under 6s and under 8s in the Mercy Hall at Colaiste Cholmcille from 6pm to 7pm. ~ FOOTBALL ~
Aodh Ruadh held the under 14 Sean Slevin tournament on Sunday 7th November. Incredibly the weather held and, although it was bitterly cold, the competition managed to avoid the rain altogether. It was a very closely fought tournament with the finalists in doubt right up to the last round of games. The final pairing was Naomh Bríd and Aodh Ruadh and the derby final turned out a cracking affair with both side locked on 1-1 apiece at the turnaround. In the second half only a wonder point from Gareth Ferguson could separate the sides. Indeed, Aodh Ruadh had to count on some mighty defending in the dying moments to retain the Sean Slevin trophy. Aodh Ruadh would like to extend their sincere thanks to the participating teams, to Terence McShea, Val Murray, Philip O'Reilly and Enda McGurrin who officiated the matches, to the parents and supporters who worked so hard making and serving the refreshments, the stewards and to all those who gave of their time and effort to make the event such a success. We have a full report on the day's action as well as a large haul of photos.

Indoor underage training continues this Friday, 12th November for under 6s and under 8s in the Mercy Hall at Colaiste Cholmcille from 6pm to 7pm. FUNdamentals training involves teaching our youngest children the basic skills of agility, balance and coordination and so on through fun station based games. Any child in junior infants to second class is welcome to attend. Newcomers are encouraged to join. As always any coaches willing to give a hand are welcome to join in too.

Friday night and Saturday morning will live long in the memory of all in Aodh Ruadh, for the club was privileged to welcome Waterford manager and Clare legend, Davy Fitzgerald to the club. Davy got a rapturous welcome to Aras Aoidh Ruadh on Friday night. There was a video presenting his accomplishments, before Davy presented medals to our underage hurlers won county titles at under 12, under 14 and under 16 level and also performed brilliantly at under 8 and under 10. After that there was a food and Davy sat down for over an hour and half for a question and answer session. Then on Saturday morning he put the young Aodh Ruadh hurlers through their paces for over two hours.
